Last week we talked about how valleys are formed and what valleys are for.
Some are for our destruction but most are for our benefit.
Today, I want to look at a familiar story in the Bible that shows where most of us are daily and that is the Valley of Decision.
27 They reported to him and said, “We came to the land where you sent us, and surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is the fruit of it.
28 However, the people are strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are fortified and very great, and also we saw the children of Anak there.
29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negev, and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains, and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and by the edge of the Jordan.”
30 Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and possess it, for we are able to overcome it.”
31 But the men that went up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people because they are stronger than we.”
Here we see the exchange between the spies that returned from the land and the people of Israel.
Out of the 12 spies, 10 of them were against going in to possess the land.
2 said let’s go!
Are you in a position this day fo having to make a decision and cannot seam to get your eyes off the negative?
Can you not see what God has for you amongst the problems around you?
What do we do when we are in the Valley of Decision?
The Valley of Decision
The Valley of Decision
The conversation started out positive.
27 They reported to him and said, “We came to the land where you sent us, and surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is the fruit of it.
Yes, this is a great place, full of beautiful fruit and productive land.
However!!!!!
Then they started in on all the negatives as to how they would not be able to take the land.
The people are mean!
The people are strong!
The city is fortified!
They ran down the list of how they were not going to be able to do this.
Have you come up with the list of “I can’t’s” today?
I can’t do this or I can’t do that?
What is the ultimate reason that is given for not being able to go in a take the city?
“I” can’t!!!
Answer me this, are you a negative or a positive person?
What is your perspective on how God works in your life?
Has God not delivered you before?
Has God not healed you before?
Has God not saved you?
They deliberated over whether to go and follow what God had told Moses to do, or to dismiss the whole thing because of the fear that they had for the inhabitants.
God has instructed you to go, yet you are sitting there this morning even now going over all the things that could go wrong or how you can’t do this or can’t do that.
STOP!!!!
God has called you to go, He will equip you for the task ahead!
They Forgot What God Had Done Before
They Forgot What God Had Done Before
These mean had forgotten that God is faithful and He has delivered them before to bring them to this point.
We get caught up in what is right in front of us.
Sometimes we need to turn around to see what God has brought you from, what God has delivered you from in the past.
If He could do it then, He’ll do it again!
The children of Israel had been walking through the desert for years and God has provided food, clothing, even water and shelter.
The lack of faith in what God can do will keep you paralyzed in your tracks!
Do not let the enemy put false fears in your mind.
Believe in God and trust that He will take you through the valley of Decision, if you listen to what He is leading you to do.
The Obstacles
The Obstacles
What is standing in your way?
We look at each situation in our life and decide whether we are capable of overcoming or not.
Can I complete this task or not?
