Three Descriptions Of Thorny Hearts
Cares Of This Life
Entangled (mixed up and caught up) with the world.
2 Timothy 2:4 KJV 1900
No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
Take no thought for tomorrow.
Matthew 6:34 KJV 1900
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
The longer I’m alive the more I believe it’s not what you can do but what you can ignore.
Am I in God’s will? Is this what He wants?
Not what if I fail? WIll I be able to do this?
I refuse to ask victims questions or think disempowering thoughts.
Do other people think I can do it? It’s none of your business.
Deceitfulness of riches
Have things. Don’t let them have you.
Luke 12:15 KJV 1900
And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Love Of Money is root of all evil
1 Timothy 6:10 KJV 1900
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Ecclesiastes 5:10
Ecclesiastes 5:10 KJV 1900
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
1 Timothy 6:6
1 Timothy 6:6 KJV 1900
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
Lusts of other things
Love God more than what you lust for
Everyone experiences temptation. Its what we do with it
1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV 1900
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Who ceases from sin? Has suffered in the flesh
1 Peter 4:1 KJV 1900
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
What does lust bring forth? What does sin bring forth?
James 1:15 KJV 1900
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Loving God and being occupied with God.
We love Him because He first loved us.
