Why we Baptize; Why Get Baptized?

Jesus Commands it so it is an ACT of OBEDIENCE - Matthew 28:18-20

Matthew 28:18–20 NLT
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Baptism is an OUTWARD SIGN of an INWARD BELIEF

Acts 8:29–39 ESV
29 And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.” 30 So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opens not his mouth. 33 In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth.” 34 And the eunuch said to Philip, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?” 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. 36 And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” 38 And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. 39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing.

Baptism is a DEMONSTRATION of Being Passed From Spiritual Death to Burial to Resurrection

Romans 6:1–10 NLT
1 Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? 2 Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? 3 Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? 4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. 5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. 6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. 8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. 9 We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. 10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.

What Should Happen After I Believe (Get Saved, Am Born Again, Trust in Jesus) and Get Baptized (Obey, Signify, Demonstrate and get wet…)

I Must RECKON (Count, Bank upon) Myself as dead to Sin (Roman 6:11) / I Must RECKON Myself ALIVE to God in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:11)

I Must NOT allow Sin (from which I have been saved) to REIGN in my Physical/Mortal Body - Give No Quarter to the Enemy (Romans 6:12)

I Must NOT Present my Physical/Mortal Body as in instrument of unrighteous living (Romans 6:13)/ I must PRESENT MYSELF to GOD (alive from the dead) and My Physical Body/Parts as Instruments of Righteousness to God (Romans 6:13)
