In Malachi’s day, the nation of Israel was called, as a people, to live under a common covenantal relationship with the same shared responsibility for holiness. The glue that bound them together was covenant faithfulness and the key to covenant faithfulness was consistent instruction. In every age, it is the power of the word of God that keeps us true to God and to our brothers and sisters in community.
