What is the Pastor Called to Do?

Preach the Word.
“With God and Christ Jesus as my witness.”
In light of the Judgment.
Preaching God’s Word is the highest level of liability a person can risk.
Be prepared to do ministry at all times.
Reprove those in error. Convince them that they are wrong in their thinking or actions (Matt 18:15 / “go & tell him his fault...”).
Rebuke those living in sin. More of a public warning.
He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan!” (Matt 8:33)
He warned them not to make Him known (Matt 12:16).
Exhort. This is an emotional appeal that is grounded in love and flows out of a heart of compassion.
The pastor / leader must confront evil in the church.
But with sadness, never with a sense of glee. Always in compassion, never vengeance. In love, not anger. With a desire to restore, not to punish.
Manner in which the Pastor is called to do Ministry.
Patiently (2)
Alertly (5)
Enduringly (5)
