Don’t Let Anyone Shut You Up

Luke 18:35–42 KJV 1900
And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
Now we see that we have a begging, blind man on the side of the road who hears that Jesus is passing by. And obviously Jesus’ reputation proceeds him because this man hearing that Jesus is coming begins crying out. He is ready for his blessing, his healing, his breakthrough. He has faith that if I can get Jesus, the Son of David’s attention, I can get my blessing. You see he had to believe not only in the reputation of Jesus but also in the prophesy.
2 Samuel 7:12-16
2 Samuel 7:12–16 KJV 1900
And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.
Matthew 1:1 is the prophesy fulfilled and it tells us
Matthew 1:1 KJV 1900
The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
Luke 1:32-33 also prophesy fulfilled...
Luke 1:32–33 KJV 1900
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
So on that road we have a blind, begging believer not only in Isaiah’s prophesy but a believer in what has been seen, heard, and spoken about his now living Jesus. So he is not going to miss out on an opportunity to call out to Jesus for his opportunity.
Now what I find most fascinating in this text and is what leads me to my topic title, is that before Jesus walked by his disciples heard this believers cries and attempted to shut him up. Not only did they attempt to shut him up but they actually rebuked him. Now the definition of Rebuke according to the Lexham Cultural Ontology Glossary means the practice of pointing out another’s mistake, fault, or sin for the purpose of correcting behavior.
Now the disciples may have thought that it was out of order or not within protocol to just call out for Jesus. Perhaps they felt that it may have been better if he would have washed up a little, presented himself better, make an appointment, or something. No but this begger knew that he may not get this opportunity again. We’ve seen it several times in the scripture where those of great faith go out of their way to seek the face of Jesus. The lady with the issue of blood was in a crowd and reached out just to touch the hem of his garment for her breakthrough. Yes Zacchaeus who had money and probably was dressed in good clothes climbed up a tree to see Jesus because he was too short to get his attention in the crowd. The paralyzed man who was confined to his bed was lowered down to Jesus through the roof for his healing. Jesus told him to take up his bed and walk. All of these believers were offered an immediate deliverance and some of us today are looking for a supernatural, immediate deliverance, healing, breakthrough, financial deposit, change in our marriage, change in our children, in our homes, at our jobs. Sometimes you have disrupt some stuff in order to get your immediate breakthrough! Yes, you can’t wait until the 5th day of revival, naw you have to get it right now. You can’t wait until the church opens back up you need your healing right now! You may have to disrupt protocol and what is considered dignified to get it.
I think that in today’s time that we are in God is looking for people who are willing to disrupt what is considered normal to get what he has for them.
But look at this. There will be times that you are standing in your faith and reaching out for your miracle and you will have some people try and shut you up! These people may even look like, act like, and are supposed to represent the church but because they can’t see the breakthrough and can only see the order or protocol, they may try and stop you because they don’t think that that’s the way things should go. Please know that today things don’t look like what they looked like in 2019.
And know that not everyone trying to silence you is doing it out of hate or content. Like I said sometimes it may just be religion. They are used to things being done a certain way and they are keeping you quiet to ensure you don’t disrupt religion. But like I said in these days we are disrupting religion. We need to be screaming to Jesus. We need relationship! We need his touch, his voice, his healing. Have mercy on me Lord!!
When you have that relationship. When you know who God is for yourself. When you aren’t just relying on your grandma’s religion, or Mama and Daddy’s religion, but you are relying on the knowing, living God that you speak to, pray to, fast with, consecrate with, no one will be able to shut you up!
No one will be able to come between you and your breakthrough. You husband won’t be able to stand in the way of your deliverance. You wife won’t be able to stand in the way of your promise. You children won’t be able to stand in the way of your healing. Your Mama won’t be able to stand in the way of your miracle. Those generational curses won’t be able to stand in the way of your purpose. Those thoughts of suicide and depression won’t be able to stand in the way of your peace. You singleness and occasional loneliness won’t stand in the way of your self-worth.
Yes, there will be obstacles. They can be internal or external. They can be people who you look up to and trust which may make you more inclined to maybe just keep my mouth shut. Well, they know what is best so let me keep quiet and wait my turn. But God has something for us right now and it requires us to open up our mouths and scream! It requires our praise! Not just praise after but praise in advance. Which requires our faith. God rewards faithfulness. You see the beggar was screaming for Jesus, the Son of David and he refused to let anyone shut him up! Even Jesus’ homies who walked with him and at this time in scripture were now walking before him. But the bible says that when they rebuked him and attempted to get him to keep his peace, he cried so much more!
Thank you Jesus!! Sometimes you are going to have to cry and fight a little harder when opposition comes, focusing on the end goal. Focusing on the solution and not just the problem. Keeping your eyes on the prize. Keeping your faith.
