Intro/Welcome
Last week we said that having a Kingdom Vision beginning to see as God sees and asking the question: Given my current circumstances what is God up to?
What is God refining in my heart? In our society?
Let’s talk about this pandemic: We are so tired of talking about yet we need to talk about it.
Let’s apply a Kingdom Vision to it:
What is God up to in this Global Pandemic?
Is it judgment for sin?
Is it out of his control?
Is it something else?
Ultimately for you, only God can answer that.
What’s important for us is that we know where to turn to: namely to Him.
and recieve from him and be healed by him and be restored and renewed by him.
God is cutting out some of the things we go to instead of him.
let’s see what Isaiah 6 has to teach us in regard to God’s purposes.
Pray
Isaiah’s Mission
That sounds terrible. For how long?
The Danger of Idolatry
Psalm 115 — this is the state of every human being apart from God’s grace
Romans 1:18-30 “God gave them over”
Isaiah’s Ministry
To reveal idolatry and the only hope of salvation — Grace
‘the holy seed’
Until only stumps remain:
ILL: God may strip away everything so that you see the holy seed as what it is: the only hope for humanity.
The Message of the Cross has the same effect
Suffering (pandemics) can have the same effect
Why?
so that we would see our need and return home
Our only hope is outside of ourselves — just like Isaiah.
Application:
What is God revealing in your life right now?
What idols? what have you trusted in that is not him?
What are you trusting in that is not him?
How is that turning out for you?
are you getting more peace? more direction?
The call is the same: Return to the Lord that you might be saved, healed, restored.
This is possible now b/c of the Cross
