"Hear the Word."
Over 155 times God commands men to hear Him and His Word.
You remember 10% of what you hear
You remember 25% of what you read
You remember 50% of what you study
You remember 75% of what you memorize
FAITH COMES BY HEARING
It’s tough because we could be doing something else.
2. "Receive it."
This is the main battleground of man. Welcome it as truth.
Wisdom sounds foreign to the foolish and ignorant.
Direct instruction in the Word to the teachable and approachable.
MUST HAVE EARS TO HEAR
Drink MILK BEFORE we can eat MEAT
Handle NATURAL before SUPERNATURAL
Run w/FOOTMEN before we run w/HORSES.
NATURAL MAN doesnt receive the THINGS OF GOD
example- don’t be unequally yoked. “But I love her”
3. "Bring forth fruit."
When the Word of God is received and obeyed it will bring forth fruit (Isa. 55:11).
The harvest takes time. It gets better each time.
Fruit is important because people will know them by their fruit.
What Is Fruit?
1. Character of Christ - Fruit of the Holy Spirit -
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Each will produce after its own kind.
We can teach what we know but produce what we are.
People of character will not be unfruitful.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2. Right character creates good fruit (works) - Colossians 1:10
10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
3. Souls won for the Lord - Romans 1:13
13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
4. Abiding Fruit in Christ - John 15:4
connected Christians bear fruit that remains - John 15:16
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Disciples will be known by good works that glorify God
Disciples will be known by their fruit.
Disciples will be known by their love.
Disciples will be known by their obedience.
We determine our harvest by the condition of our heart.
