Persevering Faith Part 3 & 4 Panel

Noah

Hebrews 11:7 NKJV
7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

3 Points of Noah’s Persevering Faith

Noah’s Life (Genesis 6-9)
Persevering Faith must have something to believe
A warning from God as well a request from God
Our Faith is only as good as what we place it in
What has God called of me in this time?
Persevering Faith must obey what he believes (Noah moved with Godly Fear)
Noah did all that God commanded him to do. (Genesis 6:22)
Either our faith will conquer our fear or our fear will conquer or faith
Noah’s obedience was not out of fear of consequences but out of reverence towards God
find a creative way to make it about others - that was Noah
Am I on the move for Jesus today?
What Challenges our faith? Human reasoning does - our feelings does as well. Fear!
Do I focus on the circumstances or on God?
Persevering Faith is consistent
It took Noah 120 years to build the Ark
Persevering Faith leaves a witness
Noah’s Faith Saved his household
How Noah lived his in a way that everyone around him knew what he believed and they knew he believed it with all his heart
2 Peter 2:5 NKJV
5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;
Genesis 6:8–9 NKJV
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. 9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.
The results of persevering faith was that his household was saved
Romans 1:16–17 NKJV
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
Romans 3:21–22 NKJV
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;
What kind of influence is my faith having on those I love?
Am I living my life that God’s judgement is coming?
Matthew 24:37–40 NKJV
37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.

Abraham

Hebrews 11:8 NKJV
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

7 points to Abraham’s Persevering Faith

Persevering Faith obeys God’s Word
Faith and Obedience are in separable in mans relationship with God
Abrahams faith packed up his family and set out to a place he had not even seen yet
Persevering Faith holds on to the promises of God
Abraham had an immediate act of obedience towards the word of God
This is the kind of faith that blesses God
Deny self and forsake all and follow God’s word - this is the Cross -
The cross is supposed to be an instrument of death in our lives

Nehemiah 9:7–8 NKJV

You have performed Your words, For You are righteous.

And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. 5 Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan.
Joshua 24:2–3 NKJV
2 And Joshua said to all the people, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Your fathers, including Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, dwelt on the other side of the River in old times; and they served other gods. 3 Then I took your father Abraham from the other side of the River, led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac.

1 Peter 1:3–4 NKJV
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
