Read 1 Timothy 4-11
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,
The Church is the breath of the truth. The church is the guardian, the protector , the preserver of truth.
It is our responsibility to be aware of the lies from our enemies.
Because these lies can be so well hidden that they come as “truth”
Masqueraded in darkness by the enemy, by demons, and Satan himself
It is therefore crucial for the church to understand how God
has revealed these enemies to us so we may equipped
And ready to defend the faith and Truth of the Gospel!
START
Paul mentions that the Holy Spirit is warning Timothy.
Paul is predicting in later times there will be enemies...
Enemies that will be fighting against the truth.
There will be opposers, against the certainty of the Gospel.
There will be those who challenge the authenticity of the Scriptures.
That Jesus... was a demon
That Jesus... was not the Messiah
That Jesus... never resurrected
There will be those who’s teachings will have some truth in it…But...
The words of these men will be filled with a false Gospel,
A FAKE TRUTH!
But this has already started to happen in the first churches...
And brothers and sisters, it is happening right now in this current time
Turn to Acts 20:29 (READ Acts 20:29-30)
Paul warns the Ephesian Elders a few years back of savage wolves
Who will come in among the church.
Jesus himself warns the disciples...
Matthew 24:4–13 (NKJV)
The Tribulation
4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.
Jesus speaks of what is to come. He tells us about the events leading up to his return
You see, Paul is expressing to Timothy that because of these false teachings
There will be some in the church who will fall away from believing the true faith
WHAT FAITH IS PAUL SPEAKING ABOUT HERE?
