Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
S. Matt.4:1-7
S. Matt.4:1-7
O. Satan, right before Jesus starts his ministry, attempts to tempt Jesus 3 different times. Taking note, Jesus did not lash out on Satan because of his temptings that went against God’s commands. Instead, Jesus quoted God’s command, quoted God’s instructions and quoted Scripture in response to Satan’s attempts to derail him.

A. Using the example set by Jesus, we too, must look to scripture as to how we fight battles with temptations, battles with those who oppose our faith, battles with those who will attempt to derail us with thoughts that go against what we know God has commanded. Our response must not be with harsh words of anger. However, it should be a response with scripture at the root. Instead of getting angry which will lead to further sin, we too must turn to God’s word and say “It is Written.”

P. Lord, I pray that you will continue to equip me with your word, which is my sword. Help me to lean on your word when trials and challenges come forward that could lead me to stray. Help me to become more and more comfortable with responding “It is Written!” Amen
