Introduction

2020 is a very interesting year for an ordination. I could easily see someone thinking that I am out of my mind for wanting to enter into the ministry in the context we are in.
There are so many issues surrounding us that will pose so many challenges to people in ministry. You all are aware of those challenges, and continue to deal with them today.
Things were rough before 2020; the sexual revolution was assaulting the church, putting pressure on church leaders to accept the cultural redefinitions of marriage and gender.
Now we have to deal with coronavirus, we’re forced to deal with the relationship between the government and the church, our understanding of Romans 13; we’re dealing with BLM racial issues and our understanding of justice; all of this has created great division in evangelicalism.
In all of this, it is incredibly easy to become caught up in these issues, and our focus is drawn away from that which is most important. The highest priority of Christian ministry is the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
