Nimrod
Review:
Genesis 3:15
15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
The factual accounts/stories of the Bible Characters is a chronological revealing of Jesus, which is introduced in Genesis 3:15
As we study these characters, we often hear messages from pulpits and teachers inserting (us) in place of the characters!!
EXAMPLE: King David vs. Goliath You might here how you can become David and slay the giants in your life! This puts us as the hero and center of the story!! QUESTION: Do you see the DANGER with this type of sermon or lesson?
** To understand the scripture you have to always be in context! Which is? Anybody?
JESUS! Again the Bible/God’s Holy Word is the revelation of His son, Jesus Christ!! Every character we study and their factual life story is about Jesus, NOT the CHARACTERS!! A LOT OF PEOPLE ATTENDING, TEACHING AND PREACHING IN OUR CHURCHES MISS THIS !
Jesus is the HERO, NOT us! Jesus is the SAVOIR, NOT us! Jesus is the CONQUER, NOT us! Jesus is the PROVIDER, NOT us! Jesus is GOD, NOT us!
Jesus is JUST, NOT us! Jesus is JUDGE, NOT us! Jesus is HOLY, NOT us! Jesus is LIFE! It is NOT our LIFE! Does this make sense?
** When we insert ourselves into the story, this can cause false teachings, feelings of disappointment, Expectations that are not rooted in truth!

NIMROD:
Nimrod is Noah’s great grandson (hand out chart of family tree) Nimrod is the son of Cush, Ham’s grandson.
Background: This time in history is not far removed from God’s judgement on the Earth for the Evil deeds of man! (THE FLOOD)
Probably a few 100 years has passed, pretty sure Nimrod heard the account of his great grandfather and the ARC, of Gods faithfulness!!
This time also is when the second World growth/population explosion was occuring.
Nimrod is only mentioned 3 times in Scripture:
8 Now Cush became the father of Nimrod; he became a mighty one on the earth.
9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the LORD.”
10 The beginning of his kingdom was aBabel and Erech and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11 From that land he went forth into Assyria, and built Nineveh and Rehoboth-Ir and Calah,
12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city.
Nimrod’s importance in the Bible comes from his association with Babylon: The prophet Micah, hundreds of years later, referred to this entire area as, “the land of Nimrod”
They will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword,
The land of Nimrod at its entrances;
And He will deliver us from the Assyrian
When he attacks our land
And when he tramples our territory

Examples of other stories in the Bible of Babylon:
Nebuchadnezzar appointed Zedekiah over Judah. Against the protests of Jeremiah, but with promises of Egyptian aid, Zedekiah revolted against Babylon in 589 B.C. In the resultant Babylonian campaign, Judah was ravaged and Jerusalem besieged. An abortive campaign by the Pharaoh Hophra gave Jerusalem a short respite, but the attack was renewed (Jer. 37:4–10). The city fell in August of 587 B.C. Zedekiah was captured, Jerusalem burned, and the temple destroyed (Jer. 52:12–14). Many more Judeans were taken to their exile in Babylonia (2 Kings 25:1–21; Jer. 52:1–30
