Chapter 40, verses 1-5 tell us about our Deliverance.
How are we doing with our Patience Waiting on God? Sooner or later, God always brings an answer to our prayers. Psalm 40:1 “I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.” It may not be the answer we want, but it will be the right answer that is completely God’s will.........

We are Pardoned from our sin. Psalm 40:2 tells us: “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.” Praise God for pardon from our sin. He will establish our feet upon the unmovable rock, which is God. If we are on the Rock (Christ Jesus), nothing can move us!

As I preached two weeks ago, we are to be in constant Praise to our Father. Psalm 40:3 “He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.” He has put a songs in our hearts, words in our mouths, always praise to our God. After salvation comes praise! AMEN

This last week, were you striving for Purity through Jesus? Psalm 40:4 “Oh, the joys of those who trust the Lord, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols.” Many blessings are given to those who trust the Lord, those of us who do this, who trust in the Lord, have no confidence in those who are proud, or who trust in idols.

We read in scripture of God’s miracles in the Past and we should be noticing and thankful for the miracles today, in the present. Psalm 40:5 “O Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.” David remembers all of God’s blessings to Israel in the past, blessings beyond number.

Exactly what does God take Delight in?
Exactly what does God take Delight in?
Not in Sacrifice. Psalm 40:6 “You take no delight in sacrifices or offerings. Now that you have made me listen, I finally understand— you don’t require burnt offerings or sin offerings.” God is uninterested in constant burnt offerings; He wants consistent Christian living!

God takes delight in our Savior, His son-Jesus Christ. Psalm 40:7 “Then I said, “Look, I have come. As is written about me in the Scriptures” Jesus tells us in the book of John 4:34 “Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.”

We must Surrender our will and focus on God’s will.Psalm 40:8 “I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.” Christ longed to do God’s will. In the garden He prayed, “Not my will, but thine be done.”

We are all experiencing Problems. At least I do...... Psalm 40:12 tells us: “For troubles surround me— too many to count! My sins pile up so high I can’t see my way out. They outnumber the hairs on my head. I have lost all courage.”....... So many problems faced David. Without God’s help, he could not have faced them, any of them.........

We know when things are really pilling up don’t we? This is when we need to hit our “knees” and start the “Pleas”.....—v. 13 says....“Please, Lord, rescue me! Quick! Come and help me”

Do we ever wish Punishment on our enemies? Psalm 40:14–15 “14 May those who try to destroy me be humiliated and put to shame. May those who take delight in my trouble be turned back in disgrace. 15 Let them be horrified by their shame, for they said, “Aha! We’ve got him now!” So what is the Psalmist really saying? “Confuse them God..... Turn them around and send them sprawling.......Scatter them, all these who are trying to destroy me. Disgrace these scoffers, troublemakers, with their complete failure”. Wipe them out........

We can be expecting Pleasure, joy, fulfillment..... Psalm 40:16 “But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “The Lord is great!”....... Through helping David, God would be magnified. All Christians should magnify (praise) the Lord. Are we learning something here today church?????????
