Matt 25:14-30
1. ‎“Like the master, God entrusts all people (saved and unsaved) with a portion of his resources, expecting them to act as good stewards of it.
a. Notice the appointment of authority was based on what the Master new about the 3 Servants (their abilities)
i. The word Talent in the text is money and it is speaking about financial responsibility
ii. The text is addressing all aspects of spiritual responsibility
2. ‎Like the two good servants, God’s people will be commended and rewarded when they have faithfully discharged that commission.
a. Story of the Minas, Lk 19:11-13 some times we all get the same thing and sometimes we get different allowances
b. What you do with what you are given is what is most important!
3. ‎Like the wicked servant, those who fail to use the gifts God has given them for His service will be punished by separation from God and all things good.
a. False accusation against the master for his laziness
b. This demonstrates his wickedness as well.
c. In the original language (Greek) The words rhyme so it would be unforgettable, the point is that while wicked people are not always lazy, laziness in scripture is connected with being wicked. Prov 6:6-11; Prov 13:4
4. Lastly, when we fail to utilize our gifts faithfully there is no stagnation, we either are moving forward, or we are decreasing in our faith and the responsibility that God once gave us.
