Where last week we considered our role as prophets who speak truth and share the gospel with each other, this week we consider our role as priests who encourage, pray and intercede for each other. Where last week we based it on the Supreme Prophet who also embodies the Word in his death & resurrection (the gospel), this week we base it on the Supreme Priest who also embodies the ultimate sacrifice in order to be the eternal Mediator between God and humanity. We are called to be kingdom of priests, making sacrifices of praise in Jesus’ name, praying for each other and the world, and “spurring each other on towards love and good deeds.” All this, thanks to the Great High Priest who has removed the curtain and become the living Way into the presence of God.
