Joyful Sounds for Saved Sinners
Joyful Sounds for Saved Sinners
INTRODUCTION:
God has spoken to the heart of every person who has been born again through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. There are many ways in which God has spoken to us. Let us consider the words of God which are to us joyful sounds.
THE SOUND OF SALVATION
It is only through Christ that God can speak the truth that sets us free from guilt forever.
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
To a sinner, who knows that he is lost, it is the most welcome sound to hear the truth that Jesus saves.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
THE SOUND OF SEPARATION
(This follows salvation.) We are exhorted to be a separated people. Rom. 12:1-2. The people of God have always been commanded of the Lord to be a separated people. 2 Cor. 6:17; 7:1. God is a jealous God and wants perfect love and complete devotion. Mark 12:29-30. God is holy and wants His children to be holy. 1 Peter 1:15, 16.
THE SOUND OF SERVICE
Only separated people can really serve God. God always calls His own to service, in His own time, according to His own purpose. The Lord spoke to Samuel when he was very young and called him to service. 1 Sam. 3:10-21. The Lord called Isaiah to a definite surrender to a very difficult task. Isa. 6:8-10. God called Paul in a very unusual way to a task that stirred the world in his day. Acts 9:1-6, cf. Acts 26:14-20.
THE SOUND OF THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST
(This is the sound of real blessed hope.) Our blessed Saviour promised that He would return for the saved. John 14:2-3. There is nothing that will inspire Christians to live holy lives as much as a firm belief in the imminent coming of the Son of God. 1 John 3:3. The coming rapture is the blessed hope of the Christian. Titus 2:13.
