Psalm 116:15 KJV 1900
Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of his saints.
INTRODUCTION:
Give brief remarks on life and work of deceased.
Emphasize the words of the text and make them appropriate to the hearts of the bereaved loved ones.
REST
Contrast the restlessness and turmoil of this busy life with the peaceful place of rest to which this faithful Christian has gone.
In the truest sense, a Christian is a pilgrim and a stranger on this earth.
As we grow older we become even more completely unattached to this world and come to the enviable position where we have more interest in heaven than on earth.
Picture heaven as a place of peace, harmony, tranquility, joy and eternal rest.
Revelation 14:13 KJV 1900
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
REUNION
With loved ones who have gone on.
With souls saved and blessed through testimony.
With companion, child, etc., waiting just around the bend of the road.
With eternal Spirit of God—;Father, Son and Holy Ghost—;with angels, patriarchs, etc.
Luke 13:29 KJV 1900
And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
REWARD
Not altogether for accomplishments but for faithfulness.
For sacrifices made in order to become, and to stay Christian.
Crown of righteousness.
Everlasting life.
1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV 1900
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
