Present realities - Future realities
Present realities- deals with what we my currently be going experiencing. In ministering to the multitude, Jesus could see and understand their present reality. Throughout the New Testament Gospels, we see that Jesus had a heart of compassion for the lost, the poor and needy, the afflicted, and even the outcasts of society. Jesus’ love and compassion for these groups of marginalized people often times would cause him to do something to help address their present realities.
God can help us in our present realities.
How did Jesus help people in their present realities? He would heal them, he would deliver them, he would save them (the woman caught in adultery) he would feed them, best of all he would preach the glad tidings of the kingdom of God and repentance to them.
In Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount” and “Sermon on the Plains” Jesus addressed both their present realities and their future realities. In our present realties, we sometimes experience joy, peace, happiness, however we also experience needs, pains, tragedies and other not so pleasant experiences. In both sermons, Jesus addresses some of the needs and the pains that his disciples may encounter in life and how to effectively cope with those circumstances. The Lord in Luke’s account, lists 4 states of “blessedness” in which the believers shall experience, whereas in Matthew’s gospel the Lord lists 8 states of blessedness that his disciples shall encounter.

Blessed are they that weep/blessed are they that mourn.

Present reality: Jesus, informed his disciples of the fact that just because they serve God does not mean that they will be void of life difficulties. In fact, in a way he lets his disciples know that they can expect difficulties in this present reality, especially if they live for God.
Scripture:
2 Timothy 2:12 AV
If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
Future reality:
Remember that when the prophets of old prophesied they prophesied in regard to two time frames: now and not yet. This meant that when they prophesied that there would be an event that would happen in the near future and one that would happen in the distant future.
In a sense, Jesus is not only teaching them kingdom principles, Jesus is also pronouncing a prophecy among his disciples. First that he’s going to do something about their present reality and secondly he is going to see to it that the problem of the present reality be taken care of for good.
In our present realities Solomon said:
Ecclesiastes 3:4 AV
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Isaiah 61:2–3 AV
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
We may weep in life and there are a lot of things that can make us weep. A death of a love one makes us weep, when we are hurt emotionally it makes us weep, when we experience a loss or hardship it can cause us to weep. But the Lord told me to tell you to look for your weeping to be turned to laughter.
Psalm 30:5 AV
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Future reality:
Isaiah 60:20 AV
Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
(Repeat these words several times)
My mourning shall soon be over, my sadness shall soon be over, the struggle shall soon be over.......God said it I believe it!
Encourage somebody and tell them “You’re gonna make it”.
Romans 8:18 AV
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Don’t allow the suffering of this present reality cause you to be oblivious to the fact that there is a future reality. There is another side! When we come out on the other-side we come out victorious, when we come out on the other-side we come out strengthened, when we come out on the other side we come out healed.
