Over the last 2 weeks we have talked about “Finding Joy” not just any joy, but the Joy of the Lord.
In our 1st week we learned that we can find joy in fellowship of the Gospel...
In week 2 we found that we can find joy in the furtherance of the Gospel...
True Joy doesn’t come from feeling or possession, things that change be taken away or destroyed. True joy come from the Lord because He can’t be destroyed or taken way.
This means that we have to be “single minded”, it is where you live for Christ and the Gospel. Paul said,....
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
It is the attitude that says, “It makes no difference what happens to me, just as long as Christ is glorified and the Gospel shared with others.”
Today we are going to continue to talk about Joy.
The Christian life is not a playground; it is a battleground. We are soldiers called to defending the faith of the Gospel. And the believer with the single mind can have the joy of the Holy Spirit even in the midst of a battle.
The Gospel is divine truth that is given to the church. Jude called it … “the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3).
Paul warns in 1 Timothy 4:1 that “in the latter times some shall depart from the faith.”
God committed this spiritual treasure to Paul (1 Tim. 1:11), and he in turn committed it to others, like Timothy (1 Tim. 6:20), whose responsibility was to commit this deposit to still others (2 Tim. 2:2).
This is why the church must engage in a teaching ministry, so that each new generation of believers will know, appreciate, and use the great heritage of the faith.
