Foundations in Evangelism

During the past several years, we have prayed and believed for a move of God here in Hawaii and across the world, many of our pastors have prayed and believed with us for a revival to start right here in Hawaii.
God is at work right now, and He will bring it to pass, if you have questions about what to do during an epidemic.
Let’s go back to the foundations of our faith
Foundations in Evangelism - Our nation was founded with the desire to establish and spread the Christian faith in their new homeland.
What is evangelism?
the spreading of the Christian gospel by public preaching or personal witness.
Evangelism is the Fulfillment of the Great commission
Jesus last words, the great commission
Matthew 28:16–20 NIV
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
These were Jesus famous last words of Jesus on earth, the great commission,
Lets’s pray
What do we do with the revelation and knowledge of Jesus, what we do with the experiences we had with Jesus? Go and tell the world.
The disciples had walked with Jesus for 3 years
Make Disciples
What is a disciple ?
A disciple in the ancient biblical world actively imitated both the life and teaching of the master. It was a deliberate apprenticeship which made the fully formed disciple a living copy of the master.
How do we make disciples we baptize them and teach them, we share and pass on who we are and what we have discover with Jesus, our own experience, what we have learned. We can not give what we don’t have.
I remember when I first begin to share Jesus with my friends, I was so happy with my relationship with Jesus that I could not hide it.
Once people heard the gospel they would pay attention and listen to you. Is important they see in you your dedication and love for God.
2 Timothy 2:1–2 NIV
You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.
Baptize them in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit
Baptism
Is our personal declaration, before God, hell and men that we no longer live for ourselves but now we want to live for Jesus.
Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Why do I need to be baptized ?
Rom 6:3 Or are you ignorant of the fact that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
Rom 6:4 We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways].
We need to baptize those who we lead to Jesus, they need to understand the importance of baptism, and the freedom they will enjoy in Christ Jesus.
Rom 6:7 For the person who has died [with Christ] has been freed from [the power of] sin.
Rom 6:8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live [together] with Him,
Rom 6:9 because we know [the self-evident truth] that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has power over Him.
Rom 6:10 For the death that He died, He died to sin [ending its power and paying the sinner's debt] once and for all; and the life that He lives, He lives to [glorify] God [in unbroken fellowship with Him].
Jesus will live in us
3 Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.
Loren Cunningham reminded us a few years ago that it is impossible to fulfill the great commission, without observing the greatest commandment.
Matthew 22:35–40 NIV
One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
When we make the choice of giving first place to our Heavenly Father giving Him preference over everything else, the power of the Holy Spirit will help us to remember what was taught to us. as we introduce our disciples to our Heavenly Father, the Holy Spirit will bring everything to them, whatever they need to remember and obey.
Joh 16:7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor--Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you].
Joh 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father--the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future].
Joh 16:14 He will glorify and honor Me, because He (the Holy Spirit) will take from what is Mine and will disclose it to you.
We understand the frustration of disobedience, why do we do the same thing again and again when we already know is wrong?
Only the Holy Spirit has the power to give us the desire to do what is right and help us to be obedient to the word of God.
And if we are going to teach anyone to be obedient, we need to teach them about the Holy Spirit of God
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Know that He will never leave or forsake you, He will be with you always.
All Begins when we make Jesus the Lord of your life.
John 3:16 NIV
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
To receive Jesus, we need to accept Him as God’s son, repent from our sins and a life of selfishness, asking Him to be our Lord and savior, not that you deserve it, but is a gift from God.
If this is your desire today, please repeat this prayer after me?
Heavenly Father I’m sinner,
I’m sorry for my sins, I’m willing to turn away from my sins.
I receive Christ as my savior,
I confess him as Lord
from this moment on I want to follow and serve him,
in the fellowship of his church,
In Jesus name. Amen!
