36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
Two Lessons from Hebrews 10:36 (according to book author Craig Larson):
There is usually a delay between our obedience to God’s Will and the fulfilment of His promises.
By giving up, I would forfeit what God has promised.
“Every follower of Jesus at some point will confront the Wall—or, as the ancients called it, ‘the dark night of the soul.’” (Peter Scazzero)
A crisis of faith tests the believers resolve, the willingness to obey God, the quality and genuineness of our faith and trust in God.
Two truths:
Spiritual warfare is real.
The opposition of unbelievers and Satan will never succeed to conquer the Kingdom of God.
The promise:
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We are not just a conqueror, we are more than conquerors—because we are loved by God—and nothing can separate us from His love. Period.
Why and how?
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
We can experience spiritual victory because of Jesus.
“The real battle with Satan was won at the Cross and the resurrection.” (Rick Renner).
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Next Sunday we will begin a brand new series on Spiritual Warfare—a biblical approach to victorious living in the Kingdom.
