LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE PIT TO PRAISE
Psalm 40:1-3
A.) God is Seeking When We’re Sinking
1
I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me
out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me
a firm place to stand. (Psalm 40:1-2)
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. (Luke 19:10)
Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave
the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?
(Luke 15:4)
B.) God Gives a Song When We’ve Been Saved
2
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a
rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn
of praise to our God… (Psalm 40:2-3a)
The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.
(Psalm 118:14)
C.) People Start Praying When We Start Praising
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and
fear the LORD and put their trust in him. (Psalm 40:3)
46
Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from
house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity
of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was
adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. (Acts 2:46-47)
