“I See Forward in Your Feet”
If you’ll permit me, before I begin this message I would like to start with a prophetic word. Tell a neighbor, put it in the chat because I need you to speak this word. The word of the Lord for us before our message is that “The rest of your days will be the best of your days” Let me say that again “The rest of your days, will be the best of your days.” I know that 2020 has brought a lot and it seems like everyday there is something else but God told me to tell you that “What is to come is better than what has been; the glory of the latter house WILL be greater than the glory of the former house.” Turn with me in your Bible’s to 2 places this morning! Psalm 37: 23 and John 5:5-9.
Psalm 37:23 ESV
The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way;
John 5:5–9 ESV
One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath.
Sisters and brothers, we are coming to a point or a critical juncture in time where now more than ever we have to sense the move of God and what He is doing next. We have come to terms with this pandemic, we have wrestled with God’s reasoning and the purpose behind the season we find ourselves in but now God is telling us that it is time to move forward. I know the pandemic is not over, I know that things are still in a hypervigilant state but I came to tell you today that it is time for us to gather ourselves, pick up our mats, and move forward. For too long have we decided that where we are is good enough. God is saying to us now louder than ever that the season is changing and it is time for us to move forward. If I had to give you a topic or a thought to remember this message by this morning, it would be I see forward in your feet.
Don’t Miss the Seasonal Shifts
The first point I want to draw out this morning is that we cannot mistake, we cannot miss the seasonal shifts of God in our lives. Ecclesiastes third chapter illuminates for us that to everything there is a season. That means that your ups represent a season, your downs represent a season. A divine order, a set thing ordained by God to take you to a certain place. Oftentimes, we miss the seasonal shifts of God simply because we are not paying attention. The man in John chapter 5 almost missed the shift because he was blinded by what he saw. There were people in his way, there were obstacles in his path but he was unaware that God had already shifted the season and that his time had arrived. God has shifted some things or has called us to move to a different place and we miss it because our focus is in the wrong place. It does not matter what is in front of you or what is standing in between you and the place that God has prepared for you, when God says it’s time. It’s time. Now more than ever as we prepare to move from one place to the next, as we prepare to shift to where God wants us to be it is important that we stay focused. We concern ourselves with things that we have no control over and then we find ourselves after a move of God wondering why everybody else sensed it but we didn’t. People of God, we’ve got to stay focused and pay attention to the season. I would be messing up if I didn’t tell you that it is not just seasons of life but it is also seasonal people. We have to understand that there are people in our lives that are only meant to be attached to you for a set period of time. They are supposed to be instrumental in getting you from one place to another or instrumental in teaching you a lesson and they are never meant to overstay their set time. Oftentimes we allow them to overstay because we develop a connection, we get caught up in our feelings and we become paralyzed in a place called feelings. And these feelings keep us in a set place longer than we are supposed to be there. I just came to let somebody know that your feelings cannot lead you to a place of destiny, only God can do that. So we gotta say God help us, help is not to go where our feelings lead us because feelings change, feelings are conditional but help us Lord to go where you guide because you are a solid rock and you change not. Don’t allow feelings to cause you to misidentify a seasonal person. Now you might be saying, “Pastor Cam, how do I know somebody is a seasonal person”? Well, let’s dive into this and I’m going to give you three ways to identify seasonal people. 1. They try to convince you that you need them 2. They make you question your direction 3. They cause you to become paralyzed by your past. I’m sure some of you are thinking about someone right now and I just have to let you know that it’s time to LET THEM GO. You can still be Christian and love them from a distance. I don’t know who needs to hear this but not everyone that is in your life or will become attached to you can go to the place God has planned for you. Keep moving forward. Let those people go, so that you can start taking steps in the right direction. Don’t miss the shift; keep moving forward.
Don’t Discount the Process
The second point that I want to bring out to you is to not discount the process. Many times we find ourselves frustrated by what we see. However, having a real transparent moment..I have to tell you that more times than not what you see is not going to match what God said. There is a process in between what God promised you and what you currently see. I wish I could tell you this morning that the process comes without opposition but unfortunately I must tell you that the process is full of opposition. However, opposition is a sign that you are inside of the will of God. If the path you’re walking has no opposition then you are probably on the wrong one. Let me say that again, if the path you’re walking has no opposition then you’re probably on the wrong one. I have found that following God and being inside of the will of God automatically results in opposition. Opposition should not deter you but it should assure you that you’re headed in the right direction. We’ve got to understand that difficulty is a part of the process. We cannot continue our strategic devaluing of the process. The Bible shows us time and time again that the process is necessary for our refinement. We have got to get beyond expecting to inhabit a promised land without first enduring an exodus experience. Your process will determine what your foundation is built upon. If it’s built on anything other than Jesus and His power then you will find yourself unable to make it. One step will be difficult because you’re trying to do it in your own strength, but when you put your faith on the solid rock. You come to understand that when we make one step, He makes two.
Keep Moving Forward
The last point I want to bring to your attention is no matter what keep moving forward. Ultimately, the dividing line between the mans healing and his staying stuck in the same place he had been for 30 plus years was his ability to move forward. I don’t know who needs to hear this but I see forward in your feet. Keep pressing and moving. Despite the opposition, despite the ups and downs, keep moving forward. Know that no weapon, formed against you, will be able to prosper. If you go down a little further in Psalm 37, it says I once was young but now I’m old but I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor His seed beg for bread. I just stopped by to tell you that it is time to move forward. The season is shifting and God is getting ready to do a new thing but you got to move forward. I need you to put it in the chat, tell somebody in the room with you, that I see forward in your feet. I know that the last 8 months have been very difficult, I know that it seems like it is not going to end but I came to tell you that forward is the only destination that we are headed. Don’t get bound by your past, because your past will paralyze you in your present. But whatever you do, don’t lay your mat down, keep moving forward.
