Song of Solomon 8:6–7
6 “Song of Solomon 8:6–7
6 “Put me like a seal over your heart,
Like a seal on your arm.
For love is as strong as death,
Jealousy is as severe as Sheol;
Its flashes are flashes of fire,
The very flame of the Lord.
7 “Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor will rivers overflow it;
If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love,
It would be utterly despised.”
Ill read it in the message
Hang my locket around your neck,
wear my ring on your finger.
Love is invincible facing danger and death.
Passion laughs at the terrors of hell.
The fire of love stops at nothing—
it sweeps everything before it.
Flood waters can’t drown love,
torrents of rain can’t put it out.
Love can’t be bought, love can’t be sold—
it’s not to be found in the marketplace.
My brothers used to worry about me:
I read a little article this morning that made me think
What is more important? To value what you have or to value what you do not have? Think about it for a moment. Gratitude is valuing what you have and ambition is valuing what you may or may not have in the future
Let me just say that faith is not just looking to the future but see the thing that is hard to see now.
God is not just going to love me when I get my heart right or when I stop sinning the truth is that he loves my now.
And one of the greatest sin of this age is ignoring or not paying attention to the love that God has or is pouring out to us
It is the sin of devaluing love
I gave my bother a new farrari. Top down
He left it out in the rain with the top off.
The entire was ruined.
He did not place high regard on it. And it was ruin on the inside.
Outside of Jesus and Grace the greatest gift that God will ever give you is you.
So why do you leave yourself unguarded outside and allow the rain to destroyed you on the inside?
The question in our text is what would a man give for love…
All the wealth in his house
We where made to be loved. Because God is love and he love to love.
Remember this is the purpose of Jesus first vistiation
John 3:16–17 (NASB95)
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
“The Father in heaven loves you so much that He sent His Son to gain sons.
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him” (John 6:44).
God knew we wouldn't be able to come to him on our own
That is the powerful love of the Father. It’s a love that seeks to find His children.
It’s a passionate and intense love. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son” (John 3:16).
It’s not God so loved the world He thought very highly of them, or God so loved the world that He sent them a blessing. No.
God so loved the world, He expressed it. He looked all over heaven to find the thing He loved the most to express His love for His creation.
He sent the most precious and important thing in all of heaven to prove His “undying love for us and that is His Son.
Many times we feel overtaken by our feelings, emotions, depression, loneliness, pain, or sadness. In those hours, we look for things to fill the void and the emptiness. We look for things to make us forget about all our life's pain, and we forget that Jesus is seeking us and wanting to lead us to the Potter so He can mold us and put us back together again.”
Jesus didn't just come cuz he had to he wants us
Mark 3:13-19
And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.
And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
And Simon he surnamed Peter;
And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:
And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,
And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.
Notice the verse
And Jesus went up on a mountain and Called to him the one he wanted.
I want to stop right there and tell Jesus only call the people that he wants.
And if you are sitting in this place tonight it not because Julie or Jimmy or Paco wanted you to come but its because Jesus himself wanted you.
Look at yo neighbor and and say the Lord Jesus wants me. It is so good to know that the Lord himself wants us.
This is a beautiful truth God wants me and he likes me
A very old man lay dying in his bed. In death's doorway, he suddenly smelled the
aroma of his favorite chocolate chip cookie wafting up the stairs.
He gathered his remaining strength and lifted himself from the bed.
Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom,
and with even greater effort forced himself down the stairs,
gripping the railing with both hands.

With labored breath, he leaned against the door frame, gazing into the kitchen.
Were it not for death's agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven.

There, spread out on newspapers on the kitchen table were literally hundreds of
his favorite chocolate chip cookies.
Was it heaven?
Or was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted wife,
seeing to it that he left this world a happy man?
Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself toward the table.
The aged and withered hand, shaking, made its way to a cookie
at the edge of the table, when he was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife.

"Stay out of those," she said. "They're for the funeral.

Lesion God is for us he is not again us he wants us
Song of Solomon 2:8–17
8 “Listen! My beloved!
Behold, he is coming,
Climbing on the mountains,
Leaping on the hills!
9 “My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag.
Behold, he is standing behind our wall,
He is looking through the windows,
He is peering through the lattice.
10 “My beloved responded and said to me,
‘Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along.
11 ‘For behold, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone.
12 ‘The flowers have already appeared in the land;
The time has arrived for pruning the vines,
And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.
13 ‘The fig tree has ripened its figs,
And the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance.
Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along!’ ”
Look at this call..
Verse 10
10 “My beloved responded and said to me,
‘Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along
And look at all the thing he says and promise
Notice her response
Song of Solomon 2:17 (NASB95)
17 “Until the cool of the day when the shadows flee away,
Turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle
Or a young stag on the mountains of Bether.”
Later she says
Song of Solomon 4:6 (NASB95)
6 “Until the cool of the day
When the shadows flee away,
I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh
And to the hill of frankincense.
I will come I will receive this love
Notice in this story who Jesus chooses and who is seems to reject.
And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. (JKV) Luke 9:57-62
Notice how Jesus responsed to the one that says I will follow you. The foxes have holes the birds have nests but the son of man has nowhere to lay his head. It seems that Jesus is dealing with this man’s heart. Many Christian want to wear the name of Jesus, but are not willing to truly follow him. This eager man may have seen the life as a disciple to be glamorous. But Jesus points to the fact that there is a lot of sacrifice and suffering in following after him.
The other man Jesus looks at his potential and pushes him to follow. This man is like many of us who began to make excuses saying let me go and bury my father. This is like many Christian who say I will follow Christ when I get myself together. When I stop smoking, having sex, drinking or living a lifestyle that is contrary to the word of God. Jesus calls this brother to let it go and become his disciple and preach the good news of a God who cares, heals, and delivers.
The last guy says I will follow you lord but. This is many Christians as well. These are those who try to follow Christ and also try to live in the world. These Christians want their cake and eat it too. They have a heart to do the work of God but they still hold on to things that God has already delivered and brought them out of. And to this man Jesus tell him no man that put his hand to the plough and looks back is fit for the kingdom work.
Being a disciple takes Focus. One need to look straight to Jesus and not allow the enemy to make them lose focus and draw them away from God’s presence and purpose.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (KJV) Philippians 3:12-14 me like a seal over your heart,
Like a seal on your arm.
