And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
INTRODUCTION:
It is a man's duty to know and do the will of God.
Everything we do should be with this purpose in mind.
When I ask, "are you still there," I mean, are you still in the center of God's will?
WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT THAT I BE THERE?
"There" is the place of God's purpose.
"There" is the place of God's blessing.
Jacob got out of His will.
a. God said go up to Bethel and dwell "there."
b. Bethel was his place of dedication.
"There" is the place of God's appointing.
a. From here Elijah was sent to challenge Ahab.
And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.
"There" is the place of God's power.
a. Elijah had no power of his own. He was simply "there."
"There" is the place of God's provision.
a. These miracles could have occurred nowhere but "there."
b. God was feeding "there."
c. When God guides, He provides. Not what we want, but what we need.
PREACHER, TELL ME, HOW DO I GET "THERE?"
a. "There" is being altogether right with God.
David proved he was "there."
For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:
b. "There" is separation from the world.
As in the case of Moses.
By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
Forty years later Moses was "there" to lead Israel
c. "There" is submission to God.
Jesus is the garden.
d. "There" is placing ourselves at God's disposal.
Paul on road to Damascus.
HOW MAY I KNOW WHEN I GET "THERE"?
The Bible indicates that God leads in three ways.
By His Word.
By godly desires.
By His divine providence.
WON'T YOU TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO GO "THERE"?
Go "there" to Calvary where Jesus died for you.
This is the place of salvation.
