Thousands gathered at the temple to hear the powerful, life-giving Word. They believed in the teachings of Peter and John, believed in salvation through Jesus. This disturbed the Jewish leaders; they took Peter and John into custody, asking by what authority they preached. Peter responded it was by the power of the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom the Jewish leaders crucified. “This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’” Acts 4:11 KJV
