“THE FATHERS GIFT”

Jeremiah 3:15 KJV 1900

15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

Before i get into my three points just want to express a little overview the word “Pastor”.

Pastor:

The word literally means “Shepard” used both in the N.T. & O.T. in figurative sense for rulers and leaders. Of the 12 times the word is used as in the N.T. as a metaphor for “leader” it is translated as “PASTOR”.

this image in the N.T. actually comes from an .O.T. Palestinian background. In the jewish economy, the SHEPARD who tended a flock of sheep or goats held a crucial responsibility. Great flocks had to be moved from place to place, and it was necessary that they be guarded from wild animals and robbers. because the fundamental role of shepherding in the ancient world, the word “SHEPARD” became a common term for ruler. The kings of Assyria, Babylon and Egypt were often referred to as shepards who protected their people.

A shepard/Pastor was a:

Person of Authority

Leader

Administrator/Supervisor

Official

Ruler

Scriptures says in.................................

Ephesians 4:11 KJV 1900

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

They call this the five fold ministry

The lord gave the church Pastors/Shepherds

God is pictured as the SHEPARD of Israel

John 10:14 KJV 1900

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

We thank God that the lord gave, which means to = to appoint or assign. The lord appointed our Pastor and assigned him to this task of shepherding.

This is our gift from God, our Pastor. God gave us Pastor Jacob to be our Pastor.

How many are thankful for our Pastor?

I know i can speak for my wife and i that we have been extremely bless by the ministry of our Pastor in this short period of time.

Today i want to speak of three Gifts that the lord has given us/ City Light church through our Pastor & the Pastoral family.

1. THE GIFT OF LOVE:

“I will give you pastors according to my own heart”

A. heart = the locus of a persons thoughts (the mind), volition, emotions, and knowledge of right from wrong (conscience) understood as the heart.

B. The heartbeat of God is love, the entire is a love story between God and his people (us).
