Jeremiah 29:7 NIV
7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
Ezra 6:10 NIV
10 so that they may offer sacrifices pleasing to the God of heaven and pray for the well-being of the king and his sons.
1 Timothy 2:1–4 NIV
1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

God wants to use His church to impact the nations

Do you believe you can make a difference?

What role do you see the church playing in society?

We believe that through building the church, we can help to build the nation. We believe that God wants to use His church to impact the nations.
When a nation prospers, so too will the people in the nation (Jeremiah 29:7).
Fervent prayer, wholehearted unity and extravagant generosity are the hallmarks of any great move of God.
If we’re going to see God move in our lives, our families, our communities and in our nation, we will need to unite and start praying like never before. In order to see a nation changed we'll have to start living with extravagant generosity.
When God moves, things happen. In the book of Acts we see God move mightily through miraculous signs and wonder.
The people grew together spiritually, building a community unified in prayer and willing to be selfless to help build the lives of OTHERS.
The fruit of this was a growing number of salvations daily.
When God moves, hearts are always turned to Jesus.
The early church was committed to generosity because they understood the value of their contribution and they could see the impact the church was having in their cities.
Do you sometimes doubt if your contribution makes a difference?
The Macedonian church was desperate to be a part of what God was doing. They didn't have much, but they gave from what they had, understanding that together, they can do something great for God.
Building a church, that will help build a nation, will require each one of us to live generously.
Generosity flow from unity of vision and committed prayer. Generosity means that I'm generous with my finances, my words, my actions and my behaviour, knowing that I can play a part in making a difference.
How grateful are we for the opportunity to partner with God?
We get to play our part in seeing His Kingdom come and His will be done on the earth.

We are Better Together.

There is power in gathering together under the name of Jesus. We see this in the early church in Acts.
When they gathered the presence of God and the power of His Spirit was evident as they began to speak in tongues, prophesy and preach the Gospel with a Godly confidence.
When the church gathers and experiences a time of awakening and refreshing, it has an overflow effect into homes, workplaces, communities, cities and even nations.
Never underestimate the power in gathering and how far reaching what we can achieve together is.
1 Chronicles 16:8 NIV
8 Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.

Why Unity Matters: The Heart of Jesus

In one of the few recorded prayers we have of Jesus, He prayed specifically for unity of His future followers: “I pray that they will all be one …”
John 17:21 NIV
21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
Why did He want that? He went on to pray,
John 17:23 NIV
23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
First Timothy 2:1–4 indicates that God’s desire is for all people to be saved. And that happens best—according to Scripture—when His people are in unity, working, fellowshipping, and praying together.
Looking historically at revival and spiritual awakening in the United States, we find that a key element that launched those moves of God was unity.
Churches started praying together, seeking God for their communities and nation. In the prayer meeting revival of the late 1850s, believers from many different churches started meeting in noontime prayer meetings across cities, not caring about the “tribes” with which they shouldn’t mingle. That had a common goal and vision.
God is at work to tear down those walls that divide the denominational (and nondenominational) tribes for the sake of the gospel.
Pastors need to be less concerned about what intermingling might do to theological purity and be more concerned with what unity will do for the sake of lost souls.

Our nation is broken

Prayer is imperative because our nation is broken. Division is undeniable and unity is missing.
Racial tension is alarming.
Lawlessness abounds.
Reconciliation appears impossible.
Government cannot fix us.
Politics will not heal us.
We need God now more than at any time in our generation.
It is prayer that precedes and forwards the advancement of the gospel. It is prayer that precedes any great movement of God.
In fact, it is prayer that will precede the revival of the church and the next great spiritual awakening.
In this desperate and urgent hour, when turmoil and division are evident in our nation and security threats are very real, it is imperative that we do all we can to mobilize unified public prayer for our nation.
Paul writes,
Ephesians 4:3 NIV
3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
The present spiritual crisis is calling us to pray for and take all the necessary actions to come together as a nation. God is the only one who can bring unity, harmony, and oneness to our country; therefore, we look only to Him in prayer.
Call upon God to empower us to make every effort to live in unity, call for unity, and to promote unity in our nation continually.
