Introduction

Meditation… Emptying the mind or filling the mind.
Psalm 1:1–2 ESV
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Our culture worships busyness and exhaustion. We wear them like a badge of honor.
When you feel the constant need to be on the run (and guilt for slowing down), meditation on Scripture is often the first thing to go.
Part of my goal is to slow us down - to sabbath - in Scripture.
Consider what God has done, and what only God can do.
“In The Beginning...”
Genesis 1:1–2 ESV
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Connection to 1:1
This is when finally “everything he had made” is considered “very good.”
Genesis 1:31 ESV
And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Everything that God created to fill the space is a “host.”
Army, those that are commanded. There is a purpose to their existence.
What is the purpose of creation?
Psalm 19:1–2 ESV
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
Leading to the seventh day.
Sabbath.
What is a sabbath? Rest… But, just physical rest?
Day of worship.
Contemplating God’s creation and His work.
The things that only He has done and He can do.
Build in sabbath in our lives. Time to contemplate His work and His word.
