Matthew 9:36 “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”

Just this past week at our Thursday evening Bible Study, we were studying Exodus. The compassion of Moses for his people when God said He was going to destroy them. Im sure this week you have witnessed compassion.

THE CONFUSED CROWD

“But when he saw the multitudes.…” There were all types of people in the crowd that followed Christ.

Jesus healed Sick people. All types of people were healed by Christ.Matthew 8:16 “That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick.” Christ not only came to save man but to heal man spiritually, physically, and mentally.

Jesus healed Sinful people. Romans 3:23 “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” All men are sinners. This is why Jesus came. I love this scripture: John 3:16–17 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”

Jesus heals Sorrowful people. Jesus forgives the woman guilty of adultery. God forgives all sin. Too often man forgives but does not forget. So let’s say we say “we forgive”? But then we say “I can never forget.” What are we saying? We are leaving an “out” to attack or take revenge later and we are really trying to cover ourselves. 1 John 1:7 “But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.”

Jesus heals Suffering people. Matthew 8:2–3 “2 Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” 3 Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.”

Does Jesus heal Sad People? In the book of Luke we read about a man that was hated and sad. Zacchaeus was hated by many because Zaccheus was a thief, demanding more than the usual tax amounts . Jesus made sure to recognize him and then went to dine with him....

THE COMPASSIONATE CHRIST. Take a look around, you will see the compassion from Jesus.

Divine compassion—John 3:16. God was willing to give His only Son for the sins of mankind.

Jesus’s Dedicated compassion—John 10:18 “No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.” Christ had power to give or to withhold His life. His dedication caused Him to go all the way to the cross. He gave His all for the glory of His Father

Jesus’s desired compassion for all of us, even as sinners. 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” It is not the Lord’s will that any perish but that all be saved. When Christ died, He died for all. Jesus even died for His enemies.

Jesus’s Determined compassion for us—Matt. 26:39. Christ prayed, “… Not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Though it meant suffering, agonizing pain and humiliation, He was willing to pay the full price for our salvation.

Let’s ask ourselves, was Jesus concerned with the people of His day? OK. Let’s ask ourselves this, IS Jesus concerned with us today? So there are a few things we can be doing here...........

Let’s ask ourselves, Are we Helpless without Jesus? Psalm 142:4, “ I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought! No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me.” The Ethiopian asked Philip, in Acts 8:31 “he man replied, “How can I, (understand) unless someone instructs me?” And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him"

So we need to be seeking understanding.......through His Holy Word..

Is Jesus concerned and does Jesus have compassion for the Homeless?—“They were scattered.” There was no spiritual hope. The Philippian jailer did not know the plan of salvation. Acts 16:30–31 “30 Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”

So there is preaching for the Hopeless! ME, thats my job, that’s my calling......for me to preach the Good News about the salvation through Jesus Christ! There was no shepherd to help. Paul asks, “… How shall they hear without a preacher?” Romans 10:14 “But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?” God has placed pastors in the church to help people. So, do you know anyone who needs to hear about Jesus?
