Giving God His Due

Psalm 29, “
1  Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
2  Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.
What does it mean to ascribe? Ascribe, means to attribute and to give to, and to acknowledge something.
Something here, is that the command for the earth to ascribe to God what he is due , is something that the every created creature is obligated to do, but not all people do this.
Ascribe, heavenly beings. Honor God, O heavenly beings. To God, his glory and his strength. Sometimes we can be side-tracked, and we loose sight that God’s glory and his strength continue, when the world is communicating otherwise.
The world is a powerful place, and when the world sways, many times, people are blinded, and deceived. They mock people who are not going in the sway of the world. God’s perspective always requires faith.
Believing God, leads you, to have understanding to do these commands as well. To ascribe to God. The unbelievers asks why. The believers says, “yes”.
Ascribing to God, that his name is glorious, when the world is going down. Worship the lord in knowing that he is holy. The primary reason we are on earth and exist is for worship.
So, we meet at church, we come together as a house of Christian faith to do this. To give God his due. To tell him, his worth.

What Is In A Voice?

3  The voice of the LORD is over the waters;

the God of glory thunders,

the LORD, over many waters.

4  The voice of the LORD is powerful;

the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

5  The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;

the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.

6  He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf,

and Sirion like a young wild ox.

7  The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.

8  The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness;

the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

9  The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth

and strips the forests bare,

and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

You know, if you get to a high mountain area, and there are cliffs. You can shout, and hear echoes. Your voice, in some sense, has ability to do things, like communicate, like sing, like yelling, and whispering. But our own voice is failing at the point of doing something creative. The Scripture here says that God’s voice:
“Thunders” over the waters
It is powerful
It is full of majesty
It can break cedars
Even the cedars of Lebanon. Probably meaning, that these were mighty trees. One dictionary states that there was a mountain range celebrated in Syria, seen as something glorious. And if God can break the glory of what man, or enemies of Israel deem glorious, by his voice, it means that God, most likely figuratively breaking the trees of Lebanon, can be established as the one to rule over nations. Not just Israel, but possibly Syria boasted over Israel, and somehow attributed the forests they have to, being superior in some way. But here the Scripture says, that God is over it. God is, plainly God.
In any way, God can inspire all nations to act. In his sovereignty. And do it, in a way that does not out-rule their decisions.
But God’s voice shakes the wilderness - God is there - his voice makes the deer’s give birth, and strips the forest bare, and all this to produce, glory for his name
The acts of God, enacted by his word, his voice, causes the sight of his people to see his glory, and call, “Glory”.

God Is On The Throne

10  The LORD sits enthroned over the flood;

the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.

11  May the LORD give strength to his people!

May the LORD bless his people with peace!

God is on the throne. And the world, is blind. Jesus said very few, will enter eternal life. Very few will find the road to life. Because the majority of the world, does not see or believe or understand who God is. And what God means, and the implications of God being God, and in control. Because the issue is belief. People have an idea, a philosophy, but they don’t know God personally.
But, of all that goes on in the world, God is Lord over the flood. He is the king forever.
He is the strength of his people. Because if you are a child of God, you know God, and trust him.
So, here David, declares, (David, king David) a blessing in asking representatively that God would bless his people with peace.
God’s people can mark and protect the people of God, in the midst of the trials in the world. Faith, worship, knowing God and God’s presence can enable you to be useful to God in this time, and while we live on this earth to be of use to God.
God bless
