Well, if you have your Bibles with you, we are going to be in Genesis 18 and 19 today the rather long section of scripture, but it's One Singular story. That's why I didn't want to break it up because I think often when we break it up. We actually missed the point. We're going to be in a a very Emotionally disturbing and culturally challenging text this morning. We're going to deal with God's dealing with Sodom and Gomorrah and it's a story that probably most of us have some basic familiarity with and I think that often though. We we emphasize the wrong syllable. We think that it's a story about homosexuality or sin in and that's a part of the store. But it's really a story about the faithfulness of God in his Covenant relationship with his people in spite of sin and Rebellion. One of my favorite things about Genesis as we've been studying through it together. Is that Genesis? Gives us a contact. for understanding evil one of the things that I find really interesting in our culture right now today is that we see evil everywhere. but our culture has no explanation for Which we have no explanation for it besides maybe demonizing the other. But there's no philosophical reasonable rational explanation or understanding of evil in our culture our culture as an abrasive and ideology that says mankind is basically good and all of our problems are simply based on ignorance. And if we just educate if we just have the right education or the right economic system or the right political leader, then evil will be no more. We we believe this so deeply were so radically committed to this idea of progress that when we're confronted with evil. We're surprised we say, how can this be happening in 2022, which I reply how can you be surprised about anything in 2020?

This is this is where our culture that we don't have an explanation or an understanding of evil. Nnnn, here's the reality. Sometimes the more educated you get the more evil you get.

Sometimes the more politically free you get the more evil the culture become sometimes the more wealthy. You become the more evil increases the our culture has no explanatory power to deal with the reality of evil.

Genesis gives us a foundation that helps us understand evil is quite real. It's quite real and it exists not just in the devil and the demons it exists within the evil is a choice and the reflection of a choice. The problem is not out there.

problems in here

Genesis helps us to see that there is this incredible wise Creator who makes a beautiful kingdom and creates his imagers to not only do well with him in it, but took Reign and Rule with him and it's a partner with him to share with him beautiful work. But we see right from the beginning in Genesis that that beautiful and gracious invitation is rejected. Batman time chose the Lesser instead of the greater and that the consequence of that. Is a broken within us. You far too often? I think in the church talk about Sin like it's just some abstract external reality. Like it's the breaking of a rule or a commandment. But sin is always relational sin is personal sin doesn't happen just in the action sin is born in the desire that leads to the action. And the fruit of sin is always.

Until we find ourselves in this story in Genesis. of a good guy Who is absolutely committed to his Creation in spite of the Brokenness? It's creation keeps bringing up on itself. That's been the story. I just just think through this beautiful garden scene. They choose the fruit the Cats Out. With Cain and Abel immediately out of that choice is May to slay a brother. We have been the increase of wickedness. It's the world spins not in progress towards perfection.

But the world is incline towards Brokenness and see. So we find ourselves by Genesis 6 to a point where the world is so broken and Mankind is increasingly broken in it. Remember that text with every inclination of his heart was always only towards evil.

So we're left with this. But what is God going to do? And we see that God steps in he brings judgement. God is a god of Holiness and Justice and he will not allow evil to stand and Destroy his creation and yet at the same time God is a god of Grace and faithfulness, and he will not give up on his creation. We get the story of the flesh, which is a story of judgment and mercy all at the same time. God judges and cleanses the Earth but preserves Noah and his family we think about maybe this time no is going to get it, right. And what's the first thing that happens Noah gets drunk and there's all sorts of chaos and his family. Like how here we go again. And the people get together. The begin to Urban eyes they begin to develop intellectually scientifically they begin to gather in a place called battle. They decide we're going to construct for ourselves a tower that reaches to the heavens. We're going to begin to take control of God. We're going to leave the charge. and once again we see God sees God knows God comes and what does he do? Once again, we see this incredible combination of judgment and Justice and mercy and Grace God comes and confuses their language and spreads them out so that they the pace of their Rebellion the pace of their wickedness flourishing might need to minute. Out of this now God disinherits the Nations and spreads them out. And then we see God come and call this man named avram and we've been walking with Abram who God changes his name to Abraham. God comes and calls him not because he's Great and Mighty not because he's faithful and religious God chooses Abram. Because God wants to make a point and demonstrate his grace his power and his ability in and through the life of Abram in spite.

Abraham and his wife Sarah they respond in faith and they begin to walk what they falter and they fail and they try to do all sorts of workarounds and And your God is still faithful to them last week at the beginning of chapter 18. We saw Abraham and Sarah are dwelling at The Oaks of mamre and God himself in a theophany with two of his angels comes and meets with Abraham. And he reiterates his Covenant will promise that Abraham and Sarah even though they are even though they're old are going to conceive themselves physically super naturally, but physically they're going to conceive and they are going to have a son and because they laugh God says you will name him Isaac. You will name him laughter. That's where we pick up this morning. So let's dive into the text. It says Benjamin set out from there and they looked down towards Sodom and Abraham went with them to set them on their way. One of the things that we saw last week. Was it April? Ham was a great host. Hospitality in the ancient near Eastern context was absolutely vital. And so here you here is as the consummate host. He's he's seen his guests off. He's making sure that their needs are prepared for is making sure they have everything that they need he is. Showing Hospitality to the end. the Lord said this is God speaking. Yahweh. His Covenant real name. The Lord said shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do. So now we have got kind of giving this little Soliloquy. Maybe if you talked to himself as he talking to the angels that he's got with him and he was Abraham. He's with them and that's like from Abraham what I'm about to do. Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation and all of the nations of the Earth shall be blessed in. At this this this rhetorical question that God States here is the key to understanding this. What God is about? In this scene in this story. It's all about God's covenant. Oh promise to Abraham to bless Abraham and that through Abraham all the nations of the earth will

Is there blessing? part of the question of this text Can we find the blessing of God outside of that Covenant will promise to Abraham?

Got such fried chosen him that he can make Command his children and his household after him keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice. So that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.

Then the Lord sent. Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave. I will go down to see whether they have done all together according to the outcry that has come to me and if not, I will know.

So this is God letting Abraham into what he is doing Abraham. Here's what's going on. An outcry has come to me from the city of sot. I think very often when we think about Sodom and Gomorrah we start talking about the sin of Sodom Gomorrah. Why was Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed? I think probably 90% of the people in this room was destroyed because of homosexuality that's partially true, but that's not what God set. What God Says is there is an outcry this is a word that is used throughout the Hebrew scriptures over and over again of those who suffer unjustly

In other words what has God her God has heard the cries and the please of the victim. It's not just Sodom and Gomorrah. It's that area. It's an incredibly fertile area. We saw that way back in Chapter 13 when when Abram and lot.

They were having problems because both of them were flourishing and going because God's blessing was on Abram. And so Abram says to let you go whichever way you want. Abram was the one that was blessed lot was being blessed because of his relationship to Abram. And God had told Abram where he was supposed to be but when lot had the opportunity to leave he looked around. And he saw this fertile plain. A place of beauty and prosperity a place of abundance and well, he saw this area and that area was not the area that got it today bruh. It's a lot makes a choice to go to what looks good. What looks prosperous what looks abundant.

He's speaking blessing. apart from God

This this area of Sodom and Gomorrah is abundance. Lush it's a lot goes there. to seek his Blessing

myths of the abundance there was an abundance of sin.

I have X wonder if that's not actually a principle that we see worked out over and over and over again not just in the scriptures but in history.

abundance so often leads to complacency. abundance so often leads to idle idleness so often results in wickedness and wicked

has its victim. Evil has a price tag one of the lies that our culture tells itself over and over again in so many areas. Is that personal autonomous bean and what I choose to do in my own life doesn't affect or hurt anybody else. And that's simply not true.

We're not independent where inter dependa. We're not autonomous. creatures every action that we do or every inaction that we choose has Ripples and consequences that affect other people. I simply the way reality has been designed by God. What were made and created crafted in forms for community? What happened in Sodom and Gomorrah and surrounding areas? Is that they have grown wealthy they have become affluent. They have become Idol and they have become Wicked and that we could Nest has victim.

and those victims cry out like victims do the oppressed whale Those that are taken advantage of because this is what happens in abundance those that have take advantage of those that don't. Might makes right. That's the way it works in the world's system. And that's exactly what has happened in Sodom and Gomorrah the strong are taking advantage of the week.

And just like God heard the cries of Abel's blood from the ground God hears the cries of the oppressed.

Victor and we have these Echoes all throughout this text last week. I showed you Echoes of the garden. We see hear Echoes of of the flood and a battle fist. I will I'm coming down to check it out is exactly what God Said at the Tower of Babel. I'm going to investigate the wicked wicked this so that Justice and judgment might be brought. Police off. The flood God is consistent.

in his Judgment of evil and his mercy and Grace at the same time.

Cement turn from there and went towards Sada. But Abraham still stood before the Lord before y'all went to the two angels leave to go to Sodom. They're going to investigate.

Abrams standing there with God This is one of the most fascinating conversations. We have recorded in scripture. It's absolutely unique. Abraham is going to please and argue and petition. No people petitioning God that's normal. We see that all over the scripture. What's incredibly unique here is that Abraham is going to plead with God. for a foreign Wicked people

Just 4 Him, he's pleading on the half of the world of God's creation he's actually demonstrating what it looks like to be an imager of God he's part.

Abraham Junior and said will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? Don't like you.

He knows the wickedness of Sodom. He knows everybody knows. He he knows he says doesn't argue about whether they're Wicked God. Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

Suppose that there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spirit for the fifty righteous who are in it? This is Abraham's conversation. It doesn't seem like people there. Will you spare it?

RB it from you to do such a thing to put the righteous to death with the wicked so that the righteous Fair as the wicked Barbie that from you shall not the judge of all the Earth do what is just

and the Lord said if I find it's Autumn fifty righteous in the city. I will spare the whole place for their sake.

Neighbor have answered and said Thank You Lord. No, he says what butthole. I mean I have undertaken to speak to the Lord. I am but dust and Ashes.

5 of the fifty righteous or lacking Will you destroy the whole city for the lack of 5? Is like a good used car salesman? I'll come on this will only affect your payments.

only five what if there's only 45 and God said I will not destroy it if I find 45 there. Again, he spoke to him and said supposed 40 are found their God answered for the sake of 40. I will not do it and he said don't get angry. I'm going to speak again. What is 30 or found there? I will not do it if I find 30 there. Abraham said behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord suppose 20 or found there any answer for the sake of 20? I will not destroy it. He said let not the Lord be angry and I will speak again, but this one's supposed to pain or found there. He answered for the sake of pain. I will not destroy it. And the Lord went his way when he had finished speaking to Abraham and Abraham returns to his place.

Interesting conversation. It's not about the numbers. about the heart

Abraham is Dialoguing and partnering with God what what does it look like this relationship between your Justice and your judgment of the wicked? And your grace and your mercy? What's the righteous? How how is this going to work? Are you into screaming at guy? Deep do you not care. Are you are you so angry and raffle that you'll just like everybody out. the Wicked with the righteous and of course, that's not who got it. That's not who we've seen got to be throughout Genesis is not who we see got to be right now. That's what I says. No, I won't act that way. I won't do that and there's these chapters are so brilliant literarily like just the way it's cuz it's so tight and insightful there so many allusions when Abraham makes his first lie. And this this back and forth response God answers him 6 times and then God Rest intensional illusion repetition throughout the scriptures over and over again to make points.

God is the Creator God is a god of life. God is a God that made mankind to be a blessing. And when mankind ceases to be a blessing God has to do something.

So we get the chapter 19 the two angels come to Sodom in the evening. And lot was sitting in the gates of Sodom now that that tells us a lot.

Culturally the gates of a city was where business happen. It's where trades were negotiated. It. Swear Oaths were witnessed. It's where marriages were betrothed. It's wet. And so the Elders of the city would sit at the gates of the city. It's people coming in and out as we're business was the first back in Chapter 13 when he left Abram lat move to the area, but he was living outside. Now we find he's moved into the city now, he's actually not only moved into the city. He's become a part of the leadership of the city. Phillies to Angels arrive in there's nothing in the text that says anybody knew they were angels. They appeared as men. these two angels arrive and lots of them Heroes to meet them and bowed himself with his face. to the Earth

He said my Lord's please turn aside to your Servants house and spend the night wash your feet and you can get up early in the morning and go on your way. They said no absolutely not in the Hebrew actually a very emphatic strong know what I'm going to do that we're going to spend the night in the Town Square which would have been normal would have been an area within the town where Travelers could set up their tents and stay and that would have been the normal a current week here is lot at the gates of the town. He sees these two visitors coming in he comes to the meatballs on the ground before them says please come to my house. He's desperate about it. You need to come stay with me. Why why is lot acting this way? Why would like be sitting at the gate? I think lot knows exactly where he's at and he knows exactly what's going to happen because he's seen it happen time and time and time again.

Visitors have come to the city and have been victimized they have been abused.

So this is a lot as he dwelling in the midst of this people like I got to do something to try to stop this. how to do something to keep them strongly so that they turned aside to him and entered his house and he made them a meal and bake unleavened bread. And they ate. But before they lay down.

the men of the city the men of Sodom both young and old all the people to the last man surrounded the house. And they call out to lot. Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them.

That we may know them. That is a Hebrew euphemism for sexual relation. We see it all throughout the scriptures. He knew his wife she conceived and they had a baby. This is the way the Hebrew language describes physical and sexual intimacy as knowing. I think it's actually a really healthy way of looking at it. intimacy so they say hey, we know you got two people in there. They're defenseless there by themselves. We got a great crowd we can do whatever we want might makes right.

Not went out to the men at the entrance shut the door after him. And he said I beg you my brothers.

Don't don't skip over that that you my brother Lots gone all-in. That's out of my tomorrow. He's gone all-in. with a culture of wickedness Unbroken

he's trying to do the right thing and up till this point. We're like, okay lot will give the benefit of the doubt. Guys, don't do this. Publix next verse home I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you and do to them as you. Please only do nothing to these men for they have come under the shelter of my route.

It's almost incomprehensible to me. I don't even I don't even know what to do with that part of it. Is that a cultural distance? As I said last week Hospitality in the ancient near East was the height of responsibility.

We in our culture taking care of your family. We would say would be the height of responsibility. What's in a really difficult position? He's got just proud of his people saying hey, we want to do something incredibly Wicked and now trying to avoid it has brought these men into his house is another angels yet. He's brought these men into his house. He's given them Hospitality which means he is absolutely obligated to protect them and provide for them to the point that he chooses to honor that Hospitality over his responsibility to protect and care for his daughter.

There's no reason and no way to sugarcoat bets to make it something other than what it is. It's incredibly Wicked. It's brought. It makes me almost physically ill to think about and it's supposed to

I hate my daughters do whatever you want with them. Just leave these men alone.

I choose as Hospitality over his daughter's well-being.

And yet when lot is discussed in the New Testament

What's it called? Is it called a wicked sinner? Is it called a disgusting broken reviler Peter and 2nd Peter refers to him? He says talking about God's ability to say if he says if he rescued right just locked. That's like it.

It if he rescued righteous lot greatly distressed by the sexual conduct of the wicked for as that righteous man lived among them day after day. He was tormenting his righteous Soul over there Lawless Deeds that he saw and her

how can someone be called a righteous man? Who offered up his daughters?

It's really quite simple. When righteous people make compromises with the wicked they end up compromised themselves.

Genesis 18 and 19 is not about the sin of Sodom. It's about Abram Abraham and lot, it's drying out the differences between them. This is a theme we've seen already in Genesis and we will see all the way through out Genesis Cain and Abel Noah's sons Champion. We have this distinction. So now we've got Abraham the man of faith. What? Righteous man who chose to dwell in a place we can dance that's not just living in the place. He became a part of it. He compromised with it. And in the end he became compromised.

the scripture that

from Paul in 2nd Corinthians 6:14 It says do not be unequally yoked. with unbelievers

couple of things happening talking primarily about marriages covenants. I think it could apply to businesses and Covenants and all sorts of other relationships about joking about partnering. It's about

obligating yourself to someone else or something out.

And he says don't be unequally yoked as this is pastoral farming imagery from the day when you wanted to plow a field. You didn't go get on your John Deere and crank at you. You went got a couple oxygen or you got a couple horses. You got a couple of donkeys. You got a couple of something and you put a yoke on them and behind that would come a blade and they would go up and down through the field and they would drag the blade and it would kill the field.

He says here's what you need to think about when you're going to a Euro Cup to somebody don't yo unequally it's it's a humorous image actually, but think about you go out and you find a giant box. You put it on one side. And then you go find a Shetland pony and you put it on the other and you strap that yolk on them. And you send them out into a field.

It's not going to work. One of them is going to end up doing all the work. One of them's going to get dragged around your lines are not going to be straight. It's a formula for frustration and it's designed for disaster.

the pirates that don't

and righteous people Christ following Christ loving people do this all the time. That's why Paul is writing saying don't do this. Don't get yourself. Don't put yourself in a position of responsibility don't yoke yourself is that saying run away and hide and don't like righteous unrighteous? He's not saying that.

Do you say be very careful about your decision?

Be very wise. Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers what partnership has righteousness and lawlessness what Fellowship has light with Darkness? When you compromise. You rationalize you justify said well, I'm going to do this and if they like me.

If I compromise with the wicked and and I give them a little bit will then they'll get back to me, but it never works that way ever. You give a little and they take more. You give an inch they want a mile you take a step. You fall face down. This is

Absolutely vital and I think absolutely instructive and important for us today. In our culture and what we're facing as a people. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers what partnership has righteousness and Lawless?

the church

Has yoked itself? the economic system

the church has yoked its L2 political system. the political leader the church has yoke itself. to the the issue du jour

over and over again thinking well, if we if we just if we just give a little bit then everybody will see how banana

Don't don't don't be unequally yoked.

Do we have full allegiance to Jesus and his kingdom?

Are we trying to serve two masters? Cuz Jesus made it really clear that that's not something that we can pull off.

That's where that was. a righteous, man

yoked himself with wickedness

and found that when you compromise. You become compromised.

The angel said stand back and they said stand back. They said this fellow came to Soldier and he's become the judge. Now we will deal worse with you than with them. But that's what happens when you compromise eventually they're going to turn on you. Absolutely turn on you that's exactly what happened. He comes out of the brothers. You immigrant alien you stranger you came here to sojourn with you think you can judge us.

Worse than you then we were going to do those two guy.

So they they pressed hard against the man lot and Drew near to break down the door. this is

but the men reached out their hands and brought lot into the house with them and then shut the door. Angel's been witnessing all of this day. They reach out they grabbed lot. They bring them in they close the door and they struck with blindness The Men Who were at the entrance of the house both small and great so that they wore themselves out groping for the door, but they can't they can't get it. They're going to break down the door.

I can't even find me.

And the men said to lot have you anyone else here sons and laws Sons daughters, or anyone you have in the city bring them out of the place. We are about to destroy this place because the outcry against his people has become great before the Lord and the Lord has sent us to destroy. Play let lot in on what's going on. I'm sure when he's they struck everybody blind lot started to realize. Not what I expected.

Salat went out to his sons-in-law who were to marry his daughter so that the same daughters that he was going to give to the Mob and I often wonder where Sons a lots in the mall probably because the text everybody was there.

They've been betrothed. He says they're not yet known to man. So they've been engaged but they've not yet consummated that marriage took their their son's In-laws in covenants only that they had it hasn't had any kid goes to them. Right and any says

I thought he was having a laugh. That's actually the work their laughter. Where did we hear that? Oh, yeah, just back in chapter 18. You'll have a son your name Hal after the parallels between chapter 18 and 19. If you want to geek out like I do spend some time this week it chapter 18 chapter 19 going to find incredible parallels. The Lord and the two angels, that Abraham Abraham runs up to meet them the two angels show up to the City Gate lot comes up to meet them. Abraham said let me wash your feet Let me refresh you. Let me take care of you. He cooks them a meal a great feast. He bakes bread and kills a calf. Lot says hey you can come and wash your own fee and I'll make you a meal but I want to cook unleavened bread, which is quick bread. Was quick bread Abraham hospital, but he's showing us this parallel account between Abraham and lot in the way that their choices have flushed out and how God deals with them. In chapter 18, we have pleaded Abraham pleading with God for the people of Sodom and Gomorrah and the righteous that are within and it in chapter 9 what is pleading with the people not to do wicked things. This is all intentional. The author of Genesis is genius like Shakespeare level genius.

And if we see it. Point becomes very clear there is no blessing outside of God's blessing.

You having a laugh a lot. We don't believe you. as morning dawn to the angels urge lot saying take your wife and your two daughters who are here lest you be swept away in the punishment of the city

but he lingers.

to compromise so hard

lingard Angel shop your house like making people blind and you got the whole people around you. They want to break down your door and do some nasty things to you.

When I get out of there send brakes.

You linger? So the men sees him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand the Lord be merciful to him and they brought him out and set him outside the city.

Would love to see what that look like. getting kidnapped by Angel

as I brought them out one of them said run for your life Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley. Do not stop do not look back. Do not pass go do not collect $200.

Let me be real clear run don't walk. Do not stop do not like that. Look back escape to the hill. A plane get up to the Hills. Lest you be swept away.

And lots sets them. I can't my lords. Hold your servant has found favor in your sight and you show me Great kindness and saving my life, but I cannot Escape The Hills less than disaster over take me and I die. Let an old dude at this time to he's like, I can't make it. I can't get there. It's a just like we had Abraham and negotiating with God now lot begins to know shape with the angels here. And he says behold this this city is near enough to flee to and it's it's a little one. Look right over there. There's just this little city over there. Let me escape there. Is it not a little one and my life will be safe.

You said you and behold I grant you the favor also that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken escaped their quickly for I can do nothing until you arrive. There there for the name of the city was called Zohar which means little

Angel says, okay. And what we see.

is that

divine grace precipitates and Trump's Divine judgement

can't bring the judgment. Until you're safe. So hurry it up. We got work to do. the sun had risen on the earth when lot came so our the Lord Reigns on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of the heavens you over through those cities and all the valley and all they have intense of the cities and what grew on the ground I don't really know where Sodom and Gomorrah work today with me with general idea of where they are. Probably it's underneath the Dead Sea. We know that Valley. We know that area today. It is still life was a cannot grow vegetation. It has one of the highest salt content in the entire world. It is destroyed. It's still got sulfur and bitumen and all sorts of it it the place is desolate. It does not sustain life.

Lot's wife behind him

looks back and she became a pillar of salt. We don't know nothing about Lot's wife. We don't know her name. We don't know when they got married. We don't know. Did she come from Sodom? Did he marry her when he got there? We I think maybe you could. imply that for the text she clearly

Doesn't want to leave me even though the angel said don't stop and don't look back. She looks back and she's turned into a pillar. song

and Abram went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the Lord. I want to see what happened. He had this negotiation with God. Did they find 10 righteous people? Is why going to be? Okay is that is the people that? Everyone early in the morning the place where it stood before the Lord. He look down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the land of the valley and he looked and behold the smoke of the land went up like the smoke of the fur.

My niece lives up in Oregon her apartment got leveled in one of the fires this week lost. Everything sent pictures. I think there's nothing it's level it's gone.

So it was that when God destroyed the cities of the valley God remembered Abraham. And sent lot out of the midst of the overthrow when he overthrew the cities in which lot Hadley.

God is righteous and will judge wickedness on the half of the oppressed. And God is merciful and gracious and will honor his commitment to Abraham that through Abraham all the nations of the earth will be black.

unlock safe

We think that I want to call that a happy ending. But it gets worse.

This is the way with send it always gets worse.

It always gets worse.

All this is this is uncomfortable. Now lot went up out of Zohar and lived in the hills with his two daughters for he was afraid to live in so are so he lived in a cave with his two daughter Lots broken when you compromise and you are compromised you're going to get broken. Fredo livings or he's afraid this is not his only option. He can easily go to The Oaks of mamre where Abraham and Sarah are and live with them with open arms. No doubt about it. I don't feel shame or Pride for these broken. Takes his two daughters. His wife been taking front and they go and live in a cave. Which part of me thinks sounds kind of cool. I'm always wanted to live in a cave, but part of me is like no that's ridiculous.

And he lives in the cave with his two daughters.

And remember the daughters once he was going to give to the crowd. The $2 that he offered up to be victims of sexual oppression.

Firstborn said to the younger our fathers.

There's not a man on Earth to come into us after the manner of all the Earth and there's nobody around.

So we got to do something. Come let us make our father drink wine. We will live with him. That we may preserve Offspring from our father.

So they made their father drink wine at night. And the first one went in and lay with her father. He did not know when she lay down or when she a row they got him so happen.

Whole Sodom and Gomorrah incident. Nobody got raped. afterwards Kunta Kinte rape lock gets right had a very daughters that he tried to offer up to the crown.

The irony is unbelievable The next day the first one said the younger the whole died late last night with my father. Let us make him drink wine tonight. Also, then you go in and lie, when that he we may preserve Offspring from our father. So they made their father drink wine that night also and the younger Rose and lay with him and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.

Salat is now. one of the innocent victims

but he had compromised.

When we seek blessing outside of God. When we seek blessing on our own we don't get blessing.

Let me look good for a while the wicked may seem to prosper for a Time. The real life is only found in the author of like real blessing is only in connection with God.

Walk away from the blessing of God to seek blessing and something else. And he nearly lost everything.

Nick I was still merciful to him Let's both the daughters of lot became pregnant by their father the first born for son and called his name of he's the father of the moabites to this day. The younger was also born a son and called his name Ben and me. He's the father of the ammonites to this day.

the contrast Abraham Abraham has a son Isaac. Isaac has a son Jacob. Jacob has 12 sons. They become the nation of Israel over here lot lot is raped by his two daughters. They have some Moab ones and a me the moabites the anime. That's what we see in this comparison between the two the results of righteousness and blessing and the result and fruit of sin.

Is it God sees Injustice and will judge sin?

And at the same time God longs to be merciful. And provide a way out. For those that will seek him.

What's a righteous man?

It's not my opinion. It's encoded in Scripture. He was a righteous man.

compromise with the world and paid a terrible price. lesson for us

in what way?

Have we compromised? With the systems of our world in our day. In what ways have we tried to rationalize?

justify making ourselves not like God but like the world.

Where have we yolked ourselves? something other The Jesus because Jesus is the one who said come to me. all who are weary and I will give you rest take my yoke upon you.

When your yoked to Jesus? There's no real. to be yoked with anyone else this is the story of Genesis 18 and 19 the story of a God who is merciful and just I've got that we can claim to.
