Cast your net again ‘With A Twist’.

We just may need a slight twist in how and where we cast.
Show video of Peter catching fish.
Luke 5:4 NASB95
4 When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”
John 21:6 NASB95
6 And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch.” So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish.
Deep:
Deep, extreme, poverty
Into the deep things of God.
Another way of saying this:
When you feel like all hope is lost.
When you feel like you are powerless to do anything to change your situation.
When you have no more resources to try.
When you have run out of passion.
You can find God in the deep.
Right Hand:
A place of honour or authority.
Honor
You see what God made in its truth.
You see what Jesus sees in that person.
You see what Jesus loves about His bride His church.
Authority
Power verses Authority
You have the power to be lots of things.
You have the authority to be what God created you to be.
You have the power to be someone who is a hater.
You have been given the authority to be of love’s kind.
You have the power to drive a car.
You have the authority to drive a car you own and have the keys for.
You have the power to eat what ever you want.
You have authority to eat things that bring life to your body.
You have power to be like your favorite idle.
You have authority to be yourself. Maybe the way your idle is themselves his hint of who you truly are but you can not be them.
Romans 12:3–5 NASB95
3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. 4 For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
If you have dishonored what you are trying to change, it will not work.
If you are tying to change what you do not have the authority to change, it will not work.
Story:
Now lets apply this to Peter’s journey again.
Jesus met Peter when he was desperate and powerless to produce.
Jesus then pick Peter.
Because Peter met Jesus in the deep, he was placed on a path to become what he was born for.
Peter once again was the end of his own power. He was hopeless, he had no more resources, he was powerless and his passion had been crushed with shame.
He was trying to prove he had what it takes and found out alone He does not.
Then Jesus says cast your net again on the right hand side.
Cast your net to the place where you Peter honor yourself by honoring the choice Jesus made. He picked you.
Cast your net to the place where you have authority for not the place you are aspiring to be.
Prophecy to Danie and I:
We were given a prophecy by an incredible man of God. He told me to study the parable of sowing. He told me to sow seeds agian but sow it to the soft ground. I had been sowing into hard ground. Hard ground meaning people who did not want to be sown into.
If we sow into soft ground the roots will loosen the hard ground to become soft in the future.
Cast your net again.
We just may need a slight twist in how and where we cast.
Cast your net when you are desperate and when you need it most.
Cast your net in the deep water.
Cast your net on the right hand side.
Closing
Cast your net again ‘With a Twist’.
Cast your net again in the deep.
- The place of powerlessness and the place where Jesus is with you.
Cast your net again in the place of your authority and honor that place.
- The place where you have authority.
- The place where you have authority and need to honor.
Challenge in our breakout session:
1. What place in my life do I feel powerless, no hope, no more resources, and lack of passion?
Friendship, job, leading, praying, confidence, bravery, learning, teaching, intimacy, vulnerability, conflict...
2. Where is Jesus in that place?
3. Jesus is asking you to cast your net again, but with a twist.
4. Jesus how am I to show honor to that place?
5. Jesus where is my authority in that place?
Show video for kids.

Other Resources:
John 21:6–11 NASB95
6 And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch.” So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish. 7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.” So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put his outer garment on (for he was stripped for work), and threw himself into the sea. 8 But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about one hundred yards away, dragging the net full of fish. 9 So when they got out on the land, they saw a charcoal fire already laid and fish placed on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have now caught.” 11 Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.

Hebrews 13:15–19 NASB95
15 Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. 16 And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. 17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you. 18 Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a good conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things. 19 And I urge you all the more to do this, so that I may be restored to you the sooner.
