Panoramic View of the Bible

The Bible

Today after hundreds of years the Bible is still the number one selling book in the world it outsells every other book. What is it about this book that has over 100 Million (according to Bible Answers .com) printed copies sold each year? of 7099 languages spoken in the world the Bible has been translated in whole or in parts 3,312 of them.
I think it is the great story

How the Bible came to us

The Bible came to us first by oral tradition carefully passed down from generation to generation. People like Abraham did not have any written text to know or follow.
Facts About the Bible:
It took over 1500 years to write from Genesis been written down in 1450 BC and completed in 100 AD with John writing the book of Revelations.
God is the author of the Bible- 2 Timothy 3.16
God inspired over 40 men to write the bible- 2 Peter 1.21. The writers were given the words by the Holy Spirit and they wrote it down. A contemporary example of writing by inspiration is a secretary taking dictation from another.
The Bible stories took place mainly in cultures different from the European therefore it can only be correctly interpreted with that in mind.
66 Books make up the library we call the Bible.
There are 39 Books in the Old Testament and 27 in the new Testament
Jesus said the Bible will be used to judge us St John 12:48, Revelations 20:12-15
Three languages were used to write the Bible Hebrew for the Old Testament books, Greek and Aramaic for the New Testament.
The Bible is not written in Chronological order rather the books are collected together in topics as in a library. It is however a good discipline to read from Genesis to Revelation.
The Bible tells one main story that is God saving man through Jesus Christ. Under the main stories there many others e.g. Daniel in the lion’s den.
The Bible has two major divisions:
Old Testament- Tells the story of God saving man before the coming of Jesus Christ
the way to be saved here was to follow laws that were written
New Testament- Tells the story of God saving man after the coming of Jesus Christ
The way to be saved in this New testament era is to believe in the work Christ has done for you and live how He asks you.
Jesus is the link between the two sections. He did not put away the words spoken by the prophets etc but he came manifest them in flesh to the world. St John 1:1,14
Matthew 5:17–18 KJV 1900
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Understanding how to Find designated scripture and Verses

Each book was a complete letter but was divided into scripture and verses between 1551 and 1571.
when you see 1 John 1:2 The one sends us to the first book of John 1:2 sends us to 2 chapter and second verse
Go to 3 John 1:1-2 and read it out.
Go to St John 1:1-2 and read it out.
John 15:1–3 KJV 1900
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
The Bible is what you need to help you live the new life and to help you progress. Fruit bearing here is winning souls and bearing the character of Christ Jesus.
For next week please memorise John 15:3

Encouraging Scriptures when we need strength:
