Evangelism 101

My Heart for evangelism....

Evangelism is one of my passions in this life. For those who have had conversations with me I care deeply about discipleship and evangelism.

I remember hearing this in seminary.. The North American church is suffering from missional amnesia it has forgotten why it exists..

Marks of a missional person

1. Incarnation we are the hands and feet of Jesus 1 Peter 3:15-17

2. Indigenous there must be something different about our lives.

3. Intentional- Be intentional on how we live.

Who needs the gospel? Matthew 9:35-38

How can i share the gospel with someone?

Understanding the simplicity of sharing the gospel

1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Acts 17:1-4

I focus on 4 things when sharing the gospel.

Creation, fall, rescue and restoration…

Where did we come from? What is wrong with this world? What can save us? How can we be restored?

Why are people so broken? Why did Jesus have to come?

SBC has a app that helps you share your faith called three circles ( look at app and teach from it )

Roman Road…

1. We must acknowledge God as the Creator of everything, accepting our humble position in God's created order and purpose. Romans 1:20-21

2. We must realize that we are sinners and that we need forgiveness. None of us are worthy under God’s standards Romans 3:23

3. God gave us the way to be forgiven of our sins. He showed us His love by giving us the potential for life through the death of His Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8

4. If we remain sinners, we will die. However, if we repent of our sins, and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will have eternal life. Romans 6:23

5. Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and you are saved. Romans 10:9-10

6. There are no other religious formulas or rituals. Just call upon the name of the Lord and you will be saved! Romans 10:13

7. Determine in your heart to make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life today. Romans 11:36

Calling for a decision..

After you present the gospel ask questions.

First ask them does what we have been discussing make sense to you?

second ask them is there any good reason why you are not willing to receive Gods gift of eternal life?

finally ask them are you willing to turn from your sin and place your faith in Jesus right now?

( ask them if you can follow up with them)

I love what one of my profs said we are making disciples not decisions.

help believers with assurance

give them helps to start their faith.

Jesus approach to evangelism

He seized every opportunity.

After Jesus death he focused on evangelism

Evangelism For the purpose of Godliness..

Disciplined faith is a faith that is likely to survive and lead to faith in others..

Evangelism is expected…

Evangelism is a discipline.

a. Will you obey the Lord and witness?

b. Will you believe God can use your words in the salvation of others?

c. Will you plan to evangelize?
