HE IS THE GOD WHO DELIVERS

INTRODUCTION
Deliverance is needed only when one is held hostage. When we say that God is our deliverer we means that God is intent on rescuing us
Redeemer: Focus on the doctrine of the Lord as our redeemer. Consider Joe’s words I know my Redeemer lives

I. WE NEED TO KNOW THAT GOD IS ABLE TO DELIVER (v1-6)

God’s Deliverance Is Rooted In His Ability to Deliver Us (v1-6)

The burning Bush is God’s display of power before Moses to show His is able to do the unthinkable so that when he tells Moses to do the unthinkable Moses would remember.
The Burning bush was a miraculous demonstration of God’s holiness and God’s power and ability.
This great and grande deliverance of the people of God from Egypt needed
not another book
not another song
BUT A REAL, TANGIBLE, DEMONSTRATION OF THE ABILITY OF GOD TO DELIVER HIS PEOPLE FROPM THE BONDAGE AND TYRANY OF THE EGYPTIANS AND SLAVERY.

II. WE NEED TO REMEMBER HIS ATTENTIVE LOVE FOR US

God’s Deliverance Is Rooted In His Attentive Love for Us (V7-8)

A. God SAW their affliction

Principle: Love never takes its eyes of its Beloved

B. God HEARD their cry

Principle: Love never closes its ears to the cry of its beloved

C. God KNOWS their suffering

Principle: Love never forgets the suffering of its beloved

D. God Came DOWN

Principle: Love always identifies with the plight of its beloved

THIS OUR OUR BOAST - THAT THIS GREAT AND AWESOME GOD HAS MOVED TO DELIVER US FROM THE BONDAGES OF SIN AND SATAN.
BUT TO BOAST IN GOD LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING. WE TRUL;Y AND GENUIONELY BOAST IN THIS GOD WHO DELIVERS ONLY WHEN WE DO THIS LAST THING

III. WE MUST WALK IN OUR DELIVERANCE

AFTER SAYING WALK IN DELIVERANCE:
TRANSITION
People always speak about being delivered by the grace of God. But here is the truth: DELIVERANCE LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING:
Paul said in Corinthians 15:10
1 Corinthians 15:10 ESV
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.
Then in Titus 2:11-12
Titus 2:11 ESV
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,
Titus 2:12 ESV
training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,

THE MAIN POINT OF 1 Corinthians 15:10 and Titus 2:11-12:

TO BE DELIVERED BY GRACE FROM SIN LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING BECAUSE:
Grace does not EXCUSE sin
Grace ENABLES and EMPOWERS righteousness
It enables our ability to Walk in our deliverance
IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO SIMPLY SAY OR CLAIM THAT GOD HAS DELIVERED ME. I MUST WALK IN MY DELIVERANCE.

HOW DO WE WALK IN DELIVERANCE?

1. WE MUST BE WITH THE DELIVERER

There is no way that we can walk in the deliverance that the deliverer has given if we are not spending time with the Deliverer.
i. On the campus of Tuskegee University founded by Booker T Washington, at the center of the Campus is a monument known as “Lifting the Veil.”
ii. Slaves had been freed and now, missions faced an uncertain future. They were delivered but they did not know, specifically, how to walk in it.
iii. The monument represents the belief of Booker T that in order to have a prosperous future – in order to walk in their deliverance – blacks needed to be educated so that the veil of ignorance could be lifted.
Therefore, if we are to walk in our deliverance we must learn the habit of spending time with the deliverer. We cannot life the veil of ignorance in remaining in bondage until we go to school with the deliverer.
In the school of deliverance you have two classes: Prayer and Word. This means you have to establish the habit of time in the word time in prayer.

THE SCHOOL OF PRAYER

By Prayer the Lord EMPOWERS my spirit to persevere

THE SCHOOL OF THE WORD

By the Word the Lord DIRECTS my path

PSALM 119:11
Psalm 119:11 ESV
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
PSALM 119:105
Psalm 119:105 ESV
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
WHEN WE SPEND TIME WITH THE DELIVERER WE GAIN HIS PERSPECTIVE ON OUR SITUATIONS:
MOSES ASKS
Exodus 3:11 ESV
But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
THE LORD RESPONDS IN VERSE 12
Exodus 3:12 ESV
He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
2 CHRON 15 1-2:
2 Chronicles 15:1 ESV
The Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded,
2 Chronicles 15:2 ESV
and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

2. BE WITH THE DELIVERED

WHEN MOSES WAS TOLD TO SPEAK TO PHARAOH TO LET HIS PEOPLE GO GOD TOLD HIM ONE THING TWO TIMES IN TWO VERSES BACK TO BACK (VERSES 15-16)
Exodus 3:15 ESV
God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.
Exodus 3:16 ESV
Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have observed you and what has been done to you in Egypt,

God answered Moses’ questions and ANXIETIES with the biographies of the DELIVERED

THIS IS TO REMIND MOSES OF TWO REALITIES:

i. That the Lord has delivered many others before him because He is faithful to His promises

Exodus 3:17 ESV
and I promise that I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey.” ’

ii. That those who we DELIVERED before him are testimonies of His DELIVERING power

THE IMPLICATION: THERE IS A LINEAGE OF PEOPLE WHO KNOW AND HAVE EXPERIENCED THE DELIVERING POWER OF GOD. SO DEVELOP THE HABIT OF HANGING OUT WITH THE DELIVERED SO THAT WHEN THE STRUGGLES COME I CAN WALK IN YOUR DELIVERANCE BECAUSE MY MIND IS PREPARED

Hang out with people who know what it means to be delivered and who are walking in deliverance

If you’re going to walk in your deliverance you have to be with delivered people. It’s hard to live in the victory of the promised land when you keep hanging out in Egypt.

Deliverance is mental as much as it is a spiritual.

If you hang out with people in Egypt you don’t have Egypt thinking.

When you hang with the delivered and you see their walk and you hear their stories you are reminded of the Faithful God who has already delivered you too in Christ Jesus.

3. BE READY TO FIGHT TO WALK

GOD SAYS TO MOSES
Exodus 3:8 ESV
and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
GOD IS GOING TO BRING THEM OUT OF THE LAND CHARACTERIZED BY SUFFERING INTO A LAND THAT IS CHARACTERIZED AS GOOD AND BROAD – FLOWING WITH MILK AND HONEY (DESCRIBE THIS)
BUT GOD IS GOING TO BRING THAM OUT OF A LAND OF SUFFERING TO THIS GOOD LAND BUT WHE THEY GET TO THE GOOD LAND, THEY WILL HAVE TO TAKE OVER (8B).

KNOW AND WRAP YOUR MIND AROUND THIS TRUTH: YOUR WALKING IN DELIVERANCE WILL ALWAYS BE CONTESTED

IT IS A LAND
· FLOWING WITH PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL BLESSING
· FILLED WITH PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL BOOGERS

GOD DESCRIBED THE LAND BEFORE THEY SAW IT SO THAT WHEN THEY SAW IT THEY WOULD SEE IT THE WAY HE SHOWED IT TO THEM.

HERE IS WHAT THIS MEANS TO SHOW US:

DELIVERANCE IS NEITHER CHEAP OR EASY– IT WILL AWAYS DEMAND THAT WE FIGHT TO WALK IN IT

Paul tells us this life is a fight

1 Corinthians 9:25 ESV
Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
1 Corinthians 9:26 ESV
So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air.
1 Corinthians 9:27 ESV
But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
2 Timothy 4:7 ESV
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

BUT HERE IS THE REALITY: IT IS A FIXED FIGHT

LOOK AT THE EXHANGE BETWEEN GOD AND MOSES IN V11, 12
Exodus 3:11 ESV
But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
Exodus 3:12 ESV
He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
God said. Note the language: “when you have brought people out
Moses’ perspective was I CANT WIN THIS BATTLE!!!
God’s perspective: It’s already done Mo’

WE NEED TO REMEMBER THIS REALITY: THOUGH WE MUST FIGHT IN THIS LIFE, THE ETERNAL FIGHT HAS BEEN COMPLETED!!!

GET THIS:
WE ARE NOT FIGHTING FOR FAVOR, WE ARE FIGHTING FROM FAVOR
WE DO NOT FIGHT FOR DELIVERANCE; WE ARE FIGHTING FROM DELIVERANCE
In Christ, sin is defeated
In Christ, victory is yours
In Christ you are already delivered.
§ There will be devils who will contest your deliverance, but they are defeated
§ There will be challenges, set ups and set backs: BUT IT’S ALREADY DONE!!!
