Where Dose My Faith Come From

This week we are continuing in our series “My Faith Please God”. And last week we talked about what Faith is. How it is active and alive. Not just something we say but actual has active power in our lives.

So today we are going to ask the question, where does faith come from? Is it something i can go find or even buy? where does this thing called faith come from?Well to help answer this question we are going to be looking at a young man in the bible that many of y'all have probably heard of before.

David vs Goliath (Video)

Now the story of David and Goliath can be found in 1 Samuel 17. It’s a pretty cool story when you really take the time to read it. David fights and stands his ground in face of a giant (9.5 feet tall). But where did David find the faith to rely on God and stand up to something so much bigger them him. See David faith came from hearing God’s voice.

Romans 10:17 ESV

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Faith Comes From Hearing God’s Word

Now by a show of hand how many of y'all would say that you have heard that audible voice of God before. And not like in your heard or heard someone else talk like him, but actually heard the voice of God like I’m talking to you right now. Not many of us have, i haven’t, so if our faith comes from hearing God’s word but we cant hear him all the time like i can some of y'all or y'all can hear me right now where do we find the voice of God.

The Bible Is God’s Word!

This book that i ask y’all to bring to church with y’all every week, or sometimes you pick up during the week is not just some object with pages and words, but it is the VOICE OF OUR GOD! When we read this book we can HEAR God, we can HEAR his heart, we can HEAR what he thinks about certain and how much he loves every single one of y’all.

That is why it is so important the we read this and hear God word, because that is where our Faith Comes from, hearing God’s word.

So David’s Faith came from the time he spent with God before this day even came. David would sing praises to God and spent time with God. David was even anointed king over all Israel before this. David knew the voice of God and in hearing that he received that faith that it took to take down Goliath.

Now Faith Comes by hearing Gods word , but in order for David to defeat Goliath there was another important key factor to his faith. Along with hearing God’s word our faith also comes from us growing that faith.

Faith vs Fear

Romans 12:3 ESV

3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

See when we read God’s word, God assigns/gives us a measure of Faith. David’s Faith was huge when he fought Goliath, how in the world did the get more faith in God. He choose to feed his faith instead of his fear.

1 Samuel 17:37 ESV

37 And David said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”

See before he got to Goliath David had a run in with two animals. A bear and Lion. Now picture this, A LION AND BEAR came to get a meal and David fought of both of them. Instead of running off and hiding he trusted in God
