Habakkuk’s PRAYER FOR REVIVAL—vv. 1–6
What’s in a Prayer?—Habakkuk felt the need to sing his prayer. Habakkuk 3:1–2 “This prayer was sung by the prophet Habakkuk: 2 I have heard all about you, Lord. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy.” This is a sincere prayer for revival. Regardless of how long a person has known Christ, he may need revival. All churches need revival.

Habakkuk is drawing us a picture of God’s Personality. Habakkuk 3:3 “I see God moving across the deserts from Edom, the Holy One coming from Mount Paran. His brilliant splendor fills the heavens, and the earth is filled with his praise.” Note the words, “is filled with His praise.” This is always one of the results of revival. When revival comes, praising replaces complaining, wouldn’t that be great? Revival causes people to enjoy and be thankful for their Christian experience instead of merely enduring it.

Habakkuk explains God’s mighty Power to us. Habakkuk 3:4–6 “4 His coming is as brilliant as the sunrise. Rays of light flash from his hands, where his awesome power is hidden. 5 Pestilence marches before him; plague follows close behind. 6 When he stops, the earth shakes. When he looks, the nations tremble. He shatters the everlasting mountains and levels the eternal hills. He is the Eternal One!”.............

There is no limit to God’s power. Are we Allowing His power to work through us? Don’t be satisfied with being an average Christian—be a giant for the Lord.

If one is in touch with God daily, he cannot see the conditions of the world without crying out for revival.

Verse 16 shows us the fear of Habakkuk because of their Sin. Habakkuk 3:16 “I trembled inside when I heard this; my lips quivered with fear. My legs gave way beneath me, and I shook in terror. I will wait quietly for the coming day when disaster will strike the people who invade us.”Let’s take a look at exactly how Habakkuk felt:

I will wait quietly for the coming day when disaster will strike the people who invade us.”Let’s take a look at exactly how Habakkuk felt:
He felt Unclean because of awful sin. He felt like Isaiah when he saw the Lord in the temple. Isaiah 6:4–5 “4 Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke. 5 Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.”

Habakkuk felt Unrighteous and sorrowful. Habakkuk 3:17 “Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty,”..... Our righteousness is as filthy rags in God’s sight.

God promised to send judgment if man did not change his way. God always warns people before He sends judgment. This has always been God’s plan—His message is: Repent, or I’ll send my judgment.

ISN’T IS AMAZING, WHEN WE CHOOSE TO REJOICE, TO PRAISE GOD, TO BE OPTIMISTIC RATHER THAN FOCUS ON THE GLOOM AND DOOM?
VERSE 18 TELLS US: Habakkuk 3:18 “yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!” Revival creates joy. Perhaps the reason there are so many sad people is that they need to be revived. AMEN!!!!!!!!! THE PSALMIST TELLS US: Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”

HABAKKUK WANTS TO BE TOTALLY AWARE OF OUR FATHERS Righteousness..... Habakkuk 3:19 “The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.” NOTE: Surefooted as are deer feet, which are quick and full of life. Revival produces new life, new excitement, new joy. It creates righteousness.
