Colossians and Philemon—The Supremacy of Christ The Fullness of His Peace, Word, and Name ( Colossians 3:15-17 )

This chapter’s text deals with the pleasurable commands which come to the child of God who has put off the old self and put on the new. Specifically, these commands touch on the fullness of Christ’s peace (v. 15), the fullness of his word (v. 16), and the fullness of his name (v. 17).

Colossians and Philemon—The Supremacy of Christ The Fullness of His Peace (v. 15)

It is not just the peace we experience when there is no conflict. It is a sense of wholeness and well-being, completeness and totality. But it is even more—it is the presence of Christ. His peace and his presence are marvelously associated in both the Old and New Testament Scriptures

Philippians 4:5–7 ESV
5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
