Going Forward
30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the Lord, as ye have said.
32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.
36 And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.
37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.
41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.
42 It is a night to be much observed unto the Lord for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the Lord to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.
The life of faith is one of choices made in challenging situations. Today we look at The children of Israel
++They were freed from Egypt
++They were favored by their captures
++They were fully provided for.
++Egypt paid for it
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: And the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
The Exodus story revealed
++Israel as God’s People of Covenant
++God’s power
++God’s faithfulness
6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
7 And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

King James Version Chapter 3
6 Moreover he said, fI am the God of thy father
Relationship- Moses though born a Hebrew was raised an Egyptian. But God chose to include Moses in his plan to deliver God’s people. No matter how far away we are God still has a plan for us. The story of Moses reminds us that our mission is not so much connected to where we have been but to the path that he has us on.

Deliverance Has Come
Deliverance Has Come
8 And the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders:
They were
++No longer slaves
++No more shackles
++No more chains
++Free
In the same manner
We too are free
Freedom is not enough
Freedom is not enough
God promised
++To deliver from Egypt
++To bring them into a land
8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
God’s plan was
++To bring them out
++To bring them in.
It is not enough to be free from sin we must be brought into life
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
God has
++Brought us out
++To Bring us in
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Freedom is
++More than a change in location
++More than the change of a situation
++A change of a mindset.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The world wants to keep you connected.
The world wants to keep you connected.
Isreal was still connected
++The Past
++The Problems
++The absence of purpose
A person without purpose
++Is dangerous
++Is Destructive
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.
Every vision has a law

++Sets Boundaries
++Fuels hope in times of adversity
10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.
11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
The children of Israel
++Had clarity looking back
They knew what they had in Egypt.
They had adjusted to the the norm of captivity.

++The Word of Moses about the future
This was the situation in the early church
This was the situation in the early church
The word of God was
++Taught but rarely available
++Spoken word but rarely read
Yet the church
++Was strong
++Full of Faith
Faith came by hearing the word of God
Faith came by hearing the word of God
There was a confidence
++In the message from God
++In the messenger of God
5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
Moses Declares
++Fear not
++Stand Still
++See the Salvation of the Lord
Salvation is not ours to attain, It is God’s to declare.
Salvation is not ours to attain, It is God’s to declare.
God will break the connection
++To the past
++To the norms of captivity
++To the world
All we have to do
++Let God Work
++Hold our peace
14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
15 And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
The Life of Faith Is
++Not in the Pain of the past
++Not in the Problem of the present
++In the steps into His purpose
