Text: Isaiah 9:6.                     Theme: A WONDERFUL SAVIOUR.
Introduction:                          Reading: Isaiah 9:6.
“For unto us a Child is born,
    Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
    Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Now, just in case this is not enough for you, perhaps you are one of those who have trouble “reading between the nails,” here is something for you. Or, maybe you get it, but want some practical details to share with someone who wants to know, “What’s so wonderful about Jesus?”
Tell them:

1ST POINT: JESUS HAS A WONDERFUL HEART TO LOVE US.
“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” 1 John 4:10.

Christ said, “Greater love has no man” John 15:13. His love is a deep affection and devotion. For God is love, 1 John 4:8.
1. Unmerited (we deserve hell alone!), His forgiveness and love covers all sin Proverbs 10:12
    “Hatred stirs up strife,
    But love covers all sins.”
2. Unselfish, He gives Himself for us.
3. Unending, From the Cross to the crown, From the Saviour to the King, He loves us.

2ND POINT: JESUS HAS WONDERFUL HANDS TO KEEP US FROM SINKING.
And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand, and caught him. He caught Simon Peter before he went down. His hands are soft, strong, and secure” Matthew 14:29-31.

These are the same hands:
1.     That fashioned wood in His father’s wood shop.
2.     Wrote in the sand rather than pointing a finger of condemnation at an adulterous woman.
3.     Touched blind eyes and deaf ears.
4.     Broke bread enough for a multitude!
5.     He formed the heavens and the earth and yet grasped Mary’s finger as an infant!
6.     Those hands which washed the disciple’s dirty feet latter wiped great drops of blood from His brow in the garden.
7.     Then were fastened to the cross for you and for me!
8.     Yet, it was the power of His hands that rolled the stone away from that tomb
9.     Unbelieving Thomas found faith when he saw those nail-scarred hands.
10.                        Those hands waved at the ascension, not saying goodbye, but see you later, and then pointed saying, “until then, go you into all the world and preach the gospel.”
“I go to prepare a place for you with these hands!” And the hands that will receive us home one day. We have got every reason in the world to rejoice in the wonderful hands of Jesus, our names are graven on them; no man can pluck us from them!
Lord, we are your small children, and we cannot even walk without you holding our hands! “Put your hand in the hand of the man!”

3RD POINT: JESUS HAS WONDERFUL EYES TO WATCH OVER US.
“For I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land; I will build them and not pull them down, and I will plant them and not pluck them up” Jeremiah 24:6.
“He who planted the ear, shall He not hear?
He who formed the eye, shall He not see?” Psalm 94:9.

The Lord sees the hopeless, the helpless, and He becomes the helper. He sees everything, which should challenge us to do right, and encourage us that we are never alone!

4TH POINT: JESUS HAS WONDERFUL EARS TO HEAR US.
“His ear is not heavy that it cannot hear.”
“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their cry” Psalm 34:15.

He hears:
1. Our pleas.
2. Our praise.
3. Our prayers. Psalm 65:2 “O You who hear prayer, to You all flesh will come.”

5TH POINT: JESUS HAS A WONDERFUL BOOK TO GUIDE US.
“It is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.”

His Book:
1. It blesses us.
2. It builds us.
3. It Burns within us Jeremiah 20:9, “Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him,
Nor speak anymore in His name.”
But His word was in my heart like a burning fire
    Shut up in my bones;
I was weary of holding it back,
    And I could not.”

6TH POINT: JESUS HAS A WONDERFUL SPIRIT TO COMFORT US.
“When the Comforter is come

He gives power, and protection.

7TH POINT: JESUS IS BUILDING A WONDERFUL HOME FOR US.
“I go to prepare a place for you.”

He is preparing a home with no sin, suffering, or sorrow. How wonderful!
It is no wonder, that when it comes to describing Jesus, “Wonderful” is His first name!

CONCLUSION:

How can anyone describe the wonder of all wonders, His name is called wonderful.
