Does It Matter?
Does It Matter?
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Translated
From original language into other know languages of the common people
the first recognized translation of the Bible - Historically took place in the 3rd century -
The very first translation of the Hebrew Bible was made into Greek, probably as early as the third century BC. This, the so-called Septuagint translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek, is traditionally dated to the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus of Egypt (285-246 BC).
It is commonly called the 'Septuagint' version (from the Latin for 'seventy') because according to the traditional account of its origin, preserved in the so-called Letter of Aristeas, it had seventy-two translators. This letter tells how King Ptolemy II commissioned the royal librarian, Demetrius of Phaleron, to collect by purchase or by copying all the books in the world. He wrote a letter to Eleazar, the high priest at Jerusalem, requesting six elders of each tribe, in total seventy-two men, of exemplary life and learned in the Torah, to translate it into Greek.
These 72 men - were taken to Alexandria Egypt and were secluded to the translation of the Torah (Hebrew bible) OT - into greek...
They say that in 72 days, these 72 men translated the entire Hebrew Bible into greek - Koine Greek - which was the common language of the day -
So, the Septuagint / also called the LXX - (latin for 70) was a translation...
Translations are necessary for people to be able to understand the scripture in their own language...
There is a long history of bible translation -
of course, we are concerned most with the language that we speak, read - can understand...
I have taken Greek, and I study and refer back to the underlying texts of the translations - to help me better understand… the English translation and to be able to better communicate the Word of God in my teaching and preaching -
But there are many English translations...
This is not a message on all of the reasons why we use the King James Bible - but to be clear, the King James Bible is the Bible that we use to teach and preach from.
But - there are many reasons...
and to be sure - Satan has always cast doubt and confusion on God’s word...
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
There has to be unity
There has to be clarity -
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Translations are a necessity -

According to a History Channel article - April 16, 2019,
they gave several reasons...
“Why the King James Bible of 1611 Remains the Most Popular Translation in History” (Show pic of the article w/ title)
54 translators chosen - 47 scholars actually participated in the translation process -
They were divided into 6 committee’s - each assigned a passage of scripture - 40 unbound Bishop’s Bible’s were printed so they could annotate any changes...
Today - we are blessed to have an accurate translation of God’s Word in the English language -
And we use the King James Bible -
There are many other translations into English - and we have done some comparisons in other services about them -
Omissions -
Wrong translations in them - showing Christ as a sinner etc...

Does It Matter?
Does it matter if we have the right translation -
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

vs. 15 - From a child
… make thee wise unto salvation
Through faith - which is in Christ Jesus
Our children need to be saved
You need to be saved
Our family need’s to be saved
Our friends need to be saved...
What good does it do to carry around the right bible - if we haven’t believed it for ourselves - or if we haven’t shared our faith with those we love
I know - we can’t make anyone else get saved
I don’t know why anyone would not want to accept the Lord Jesus Christ -
He is so good!
God is so Good
The Blessed Holy Spirit - O blessed be God - I am so thankful that I put my faith in God for salvation!!!

Many of his disciples quit… vs 66
60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
Demas
10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
There are reasons we can reason
There are excuses that we can offer -
It isn’t easy to continue following the Lord...
57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Oh don’t get me wrong - it isn’t easy on those who don’t follow the Lord either...
we live in a sinful, corrupt world… Where Satan - the father of lies - the destroyer of the brethren...
he is a thief and he desires to steal and destroy all that he can...
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
There are those who stumble along the way - they quit - but they get back in the race...
John Mark:
36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
4. If we don’t Preach it
4. If we don’t Preach it
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
Preach the Word - to make known - preach / proclaim - <ker-ys-so>
Word - Logos - word - the message - the Word - Christ...

Reprove - expose - reprove; convict - rebuke
Rebuke - to warn; speak seriously; punish / denounce
Exhort - call to ones side; to encourage, urge, implore, comfort, cheer up - be-friend; to invite / call together
Longsuffering - patience, endurance, forbearance
Doctrine - teaching, instruction

1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
“I charge thee therefore… before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ...”
39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.
29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Here Peter and the other disciple’s -
“They did not change their message and they didn’t change their message...”
