Introduction
Our last time together we looked at Genesis 1:3, where God spoke light into existence and the significance of light from both a physical and spiritual perspective. God in His infinite wisdom gave light to sustain life upon earth. Also, light allows mankind to see and enjoy God’s handiwork and fulfill our purpose. Today we will consider Genesis 1:4-10, where observe the order and method of God’s creative activity. What we will notice is that God’s wise order is to form and then fill. Unlike the false ideology of Evolution that proclaims a different order, which we will touch on a little later. So, this Battle for the Truth continues.
V.4-5 - “And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. (5) And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.”
God saw that the light was good. This means that it was good for the purposes in which it was created. God then divided or separated the light from the darkness and assigned specific names to them that remains unto this day. Ever wondered how Day and Night came to be? Now you know—God formed them, separated them, and then named them. This act of naming denotes dominion and authority. This concludes the 1 Day’s work, which was a 24-hour day, not millions or billions of years as the Evolution Theory suggests.
V.6-8 - “And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. (7) And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. (8) And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.”
Here we see God forming the environmental atmosphere within which all living creatures-- plant and animal require to sustain their lives. The text says that God divided the waters from the waters simply by the word of His power. The Hebrew word for firmament is raqiya‘ (raw-kee’-ah), which means to beat, beat out, spread out, stretch or expand. So now God has created an expansion between the water above which He called Heaven and water below upon earth. This act created an air space and clear sky above the earth and brings the 2nd Day to a close.
V.9-10 - “And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. (10) And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.”
Here we observe God commanding the waters under heaven to be gathered together unto one place in preparation for what he was about to do next—bring forth the dry land. What a tremendous display of wisdom and force in bringing fort the mountains, hills, valleys, canyons, rivers, springs, lakes, and ponds. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters He called seas: and God saw that it was good.
As the psalmist wrote in Psalm 104:1-10 - “Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. (2) Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: (3) Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind: (4) Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: (5) Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
(6) Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. (7) At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. (8) They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. (9) Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth. (10) He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.” Amen somebody.
Conclusion
My brothers and sisters, as we have reviewed the Creator God fashioning our world, I did not see any indication that anything happened on its own. Did you notice that as well? Nothing happened until God spoke, and when He spoke, whatever He spoke came to pass. And anybody who thinks they know better is in denial, and I don’t mean the river. I understand that this Battle For The Truth is won only by faith. For the in Hebrews 11:3, we read, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” I only wish God could speak to those who reject His truth as He spoke with Job in Job 38:1-12, 16-38. God asked:
“Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? (3) Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. (4) Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. (5) Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? (6) Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; (7) When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (8) Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? (9) When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, (10) And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors, (11) And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? (12) Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;
(16) Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth? (17) Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death? (18) Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all. (19) Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof, (20) That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof? (21) Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great? (22) Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, (23) Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
(24) By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth? (25) Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder; (26) To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man; (27) To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth? (28) Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew? (29) Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it? (30) The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen. (31) Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
(32) Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? (33) Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth? (34) Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee? (35) Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are? (36) Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart? (37) Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven, (38) When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?”
To these piercing few questions from God, Job was humbled and submissive. I challenge the most learned among the Evolutionary Theory scholars to answer the questions that God asked Job. Will you be humbled or haughty? I beseech you to humble yourself before God your Maker and Jesus Christ the Savior, while there is yet time. Amen somebody. May the Lord bless and keep you is my earnest prayer.
