The call while walking through Best Buy
Here we find Job in the second of three debates with his friends. In chapter 18 Bildad told Job that suffering reveals a man who does not know God. Job said in chapter 19 God and his friends are trying to crush him and ask for pity. However, despite his friends Job looks to his Redeemer. In verses 1-6 Job we see Job’s criticism of his friends. In verses 7-20 we see his complaints against God. His legal case is lopsided and he is forsaken by his friends. However in verses 21-22, Job makes a plea to his friends and family. In verses 23-27 he gives his testimony of hope. And he closes this argument with some advice for his friends. But I want to focus your attention for a few moments on Jobs testimony of hope for surely he is enduring hard times.
And like Job, family and church, in the last year, we have experienced and are experiencing, some hard times. Death, with all of its heartaches and pain, sorrow and sadness, sickness and suffering has invaded our ranks once again. And I can’t help but wonder what the testimony of my brother, my friend, my comrade, my prayer partner would be as he watched his health decline, the visits slow down, the sidebar conversations and the separation from the one and he loved most.
