CAESAREA PHILIPPI, a city in the N. of Palestine; visited by Jesus, Matt. 16:13-20, Mark 8:27-30; Luke 9:18-20.[1]
I. Who Do People say I am ?
A. John the Baptist
B. Elijah
C. One of the prophets (Jeremiah)
II. He asked them “Who do You say I am?”
A. Peter only one to speak up
B. With the upcoming election for president we see the constant polls being announced and we see the effect on the popularity of the candidates. Jesus asked His disciples who others say He is then He asks them “who do you say I am?”
III. He asks us “Who Do You say I am?”
A. He changed the question from a public opinion poll to a personal decision question.
B. The question is…Who do you say He is?
C. Everyone will one day have to answer the question: “Who do you say Jesus is?”
D. The Bible says ”every knee will bow and every tongue confess Jesus is Lord!”Jesus first asked His disciples, "Who do the people say I am?" Then He asks, "Who do you say I am?"
