Great is thy faithfulness!

To understand our mighty God we need to come to understand His faithfulness as the Great I AM to fulfill His purpose, to fulfill His plan of redemption.
(insert song 190 Great is thy faithfulness and sing together - just 1 verse)
God’s faithfulness is not contingent on ours
God’s compassions they fail not
God’s mercies are new each morning
God provided everything that we need.
(Transition) this morning we are looking at the Great I AM announced, purposed and displayed.
(I AM picture inserted here) - Ask the question, so who is the Great I AM? this morning may we look at it, then answer the question.

Great I AM announced

There is power, there is authority in the Great I AM and in a life changing, world changing event it is announced to man.
Moses just taking care of his fathers (well father in laws) business, just a day like any other day when there is the out of the ordinary a burning bush that speaks to him (Exo3:1-10) Moses was given direction was given to Moses to go and deliver the people (Exo3:9-10) Moses then questions God and God responds back.
Exodus 3:13 NASB95
13 Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?”
Exodus 3:14 NASB95
14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”
Exodus 3:15 NASB95
15 God, furthermore, said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.
God is the Great I AM to all generations (v.15)
God’s grand plan to save the oppressed people always considered man to be a part of it.
Moses, the Prophets, the Apostles, God’s Word spoken through man and even today we speak and teach Gods Word.
Like Moses many did not want to take God at his word, they wanted to challenge Him. Maybe you remember Gideon (Jud6-9) the Pharisees (Jn8, and we will get to that passage shortly). Even Jeremiah was reluctant, but still preached God’s Word (foretell and forthtell)
(Transition) Some foretold some forthtold of the Jesus as the Great I AM and let me give a few quick scripture references to set us up on the Great I AM’s purpose.
Jesus is the Great I AM in the flesh (Jn1:1-2, 14)
John 1:1–2 NASB95
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.
then after saying life was in Him, man did not accept Him, we are told more about Him
John 1:14 NASB95
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus is the Great I AM greater than the angels (Heb1:3-4)
God spoke through the prophets, but in the end times spoke through the Son, the Great I AM in the flesh and how we can know it is the Great I AM is this
Hebrews 1:3–4 NASB95
3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.
The more excellent name is Jesus, the name above every name. The great I AM who came in the flesh, taking on the form of a bondservant (Php2:5-9). I was not originally going to put this passage in, and it’s not on your outline but I think it is important to put it in. Remember we are aiming to look at the character and nature of the great I AM
Philippians 2:5–6 NASB95
5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
Philippians 2:7–8 NASB95
7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Philippians 2:9 NASB95
9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
(transition) The Great I AM who came in the flesh with a purpose so now may we look at that.

Great I AM - purposed

The Great I AM had a plan, a purpose and we can know that all things were summed up in that purpose according to (Eph1:3-14) so may we take a few minutes to look at the purpose.
Well first a summary are the Ephesians 1 passage.
God blesses us with every spiritual blessing (Eph1:3)
God chose us (Eph1:4); Chosen to be adopted (Eph1:5)
God redeemed us (Eph1:7)
I will stop there, I suggest reading the passage on your own there is more to glean.
Christ was born to die for us
At the fulness of time God sent His Son (Gal4:4-5; Lk2)
Galatians 4:4–5 NASB95
4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Question: When did the Son come according to (v.4)? Why, or for what purpose did the Son come (v.5)?
He came at the fullness of time; came to redeem!
He came as announced by the angels (Lk1:26-32, born of a virgin, Announced to she shepherds (Lk2:8-14); identified as the salvation of Israel by Simeon (Lk2:25-32); known to be the redemption of Israel by Anna (Lk2:36-38)
Came to give his life for many (Mk10:45) Came to seek and save the lost (Lk19:10)
Mark 10:45 NASB95
45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Jesus, the Great I AM had a purpose to give His life for many
Luke 19:10 NASB95
10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Jesus, the Great I AM came to seek and save that which is lost.
Came to save people from their sins (Mt1:21; Heb7:25; Act4:12)
Save that which is lost, lost because of their sins.
Matthew 1:21 NASB95
21 “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
THere is just something about that name, the name which all must be saved by (Act4:12) the name above every other name (Php2:9) the name that can save all who draw to Him
Hebrews 7:25 NASB95
25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
He lived to die for us, to be Gods propitiation for our sins (1Jn2:2), our Advocate with the Father (1Jn2:1)
Advocate for those who believe for it is impossible to please God without faith (Heb11:6)
(Transition) I have not forgotten where we are and what our aim is, to look at the character and nature of the Great I AM, so now may we see Him displayed.

Great I AM - Displayed

Man says show me and I will believe it, God says believe it and I will show you. Jesus is the Great I AM displayed even if they did not believe it. Because seeing does not always equate to believing.
In a time where Jesus is speaking of His departure and the Jews are questioning Him. The things He says to them do not make any sense.
Jesus saying I AM from above (Jn8:23)
The Father sent Me (Jn8:26)
Truth shall make you free (Jn8:31)
They believed they were free, never in bondage because they are Abraham’s descendants.
After some more giving some prophesy about to be fulfilled Jesus gets to some history about the Great I AM, clearly identifies and displays Himself as the Great I AM
John 8:48–49 NASB95
48 The Jews answered and said to Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?” 49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me.
well maybe I better back up a verse and keep things in context
John 8:47–48 NASB95
47 “He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.” 48 The Jews answered and said to Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?”
John 8:49–50 NASB95
49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. 50 “But I do not seek My glory; there is One who seeks and judges.
John 8:51–52 NASB95
51 “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he will never see death.” 52 The Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets also; and You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste of death.’
John 8:53–54 NASB95
53 “Surely You are not greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets died too; whom do You make Yourself out to be? 54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God’;
John 8:55–56 NASB95
55 and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say that I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you, but I do know Him and keep His word. 56 “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.”
John 8:57 NASB95
57 So the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”
John 8:58 NASB95
58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.”
John 8:59 NASB95
59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.
In the beginning God created (Gen1:1)
In the beginning was the Word (Jn1:1)
God names Himself as the Great I AM (Exo3:3-5)
Jesus names Himself as the Great I AM (Jn8:58)
Scriptures to consider and ask yourself:
Do I know and have the truth? (Jn8:32, Ps119:160; Jn14:6; Jn8:36)?
John 8:32 NASB95
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
God’s word is Truth, Jesus is truth
Psalm 119:160 NASB95
160 The sum of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.
Add to that
John 14:6 NASB95
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
John 8:36 NASB95
36 “So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
Jesus, the Great I AM that came in the flesh came to set you free! (Expand not enough to know about, but you need to know Him)
Do you love the truth, do you love the Father (Jn8:31, 8:42)
John 8:31 NASB95
31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
It is not enough to just believe, we need to continue in My word, we need to take and apply
John 8:42 NASB95
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me.
God’s grand plan, sent His Son, The Great I AM came as the I AM so we could be saved.
(Insert 1Jn5:13 picture here)
Do I know I’m Saved, how I was saved, when I was saved, why I needed saving? (Isa59:2; Rom3:23; Rom6:23; Eph2:8; Rom8:9-10; Act2:38)
Expand on those.
Does my life reflect my salvation? (Jn14:21; Mt3:8; Mt7:17; Mt7:19; Eph4:1; Rom12:2)
If you love me, you will keep my commands (Jn14:21)
Consider your fruit, is it worthy of repentance (Mt3:8)
A good tree will bear good fruit (Mt7:17)
A tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down . . . (Mt7:19)
Am I walking in a manner worthy (Eph4:1)
(Expand on that)
Am I being transformed by renewing of mind (Rom12:2)
Does my life reflect I am a new creation? (1Cor5:17)
Do I look like the world, or am I a new creation trying to change the world?
Am I staying connected to the vine? (Jn15:1-8, 9-10)
John 15:1–2 NASB95
1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.
Bear fruit! But be ready there maybe times of being pruned (expand briefly)
John 15:3–4 NASB95
3 “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.
You have the word, have believed the word, have obeyed the word so that you know you are His child and are clean, bearing the fruit of the Father through the Son.
John 15:5–6 NASB95
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.
Be careful to stay attached to the vine!
John 15:7–8 NASB95
7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.
Does you life prove that you are His disciples?
(invitation slide - Follow Him) The great I AM is calling you to abide in Him; Calling you to Him, do you need to respond? invitation (Song) (Prayer)
