Time to Deal with Loose Ends - Part 1

1 Peter 1:13–21 NKJV
13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you 21 who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
This is either a 2 part or 3 part series depending on how the Lord leads. The Apostle Peter is telling us it is high time we dealt with the loose ends in our mind and our emotions. God has big plans for us and we need to make sure we are not allowing ourselves to be entangled in loose ends.
Example
We have been redeemed. We are going to talk about that redemption this morning. God called a man to be a prophet during some of the most turbulent times of Israel’s history. Civil war had already divided the country into 2 different countries. This man prophesied during the reign of 5 different kings of Judah and his name was Hosea. God wanted to demonstrate His love for Israel through the life of Hosea. God told him to marry take a prostitute for a wife. She has 3 children and decides this life is not for her. She leaves Hosea for different lovers who offers her jewels and fine clothes. She eventually comes to ruin and either one of her lovers makes her a slave or she sells herself as a slave to pay her debts.
Hosea 3:2 NKJV
2 So I bought her for myself for fifteen shekels of silver, and one and one-half homers of barley.
A homer of barley was for a jealousy offering in the book of Numbers. Hosea gives above and beyond the required jealousy offering. God loves us with an everlasting love and He is a jealous God who shares His glory with no one.

Isaiah 43:3–4 NKJV
3 For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place. 4 Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life.
God loves us so much. It is all poured out in the Bible. He sent prophets who were mostly killed. Some died of natural causes but He knew what would happen. He still wanted to give humanity the opportunity to have a relationship with Him. He loves this creation so much He did not withhold anything. Including Jesus Christ, the Word made Flesh.
Romans 8:32 NKJV
32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
How many now there is a debt that no one can pay charged against humanity? Because of this immense debt we are born into sin according to Romans. But, Praise God, it was completely paid for. We have been set free.
Conclusion:
Romans 3:23 NKJV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Acts 16:31 NKJV
31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Romans 10:9–10 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
