The People of God are Scattered

· Psalm 122

· The People of the OT were scattered

· The movement of the OT events is to gather God’s people.

· The Psalms of Ascent were a picture of that scatteredness.

· We are scattered today. We are scattered by so many things. Brothers are turning against brothers. We are divided among so many lines.

The People of God are Traveling

· The People of God are on a journey

· Removed from Eden

· Abraham called by God

· David

· The Wilderness as a Figure

· We are wandering today

· Provides us with Direction

· Provides us with Hope

The People of God are Being Gathered

· God’s promise of Land to Abraham

· God’s promise of Land to Moses

· God’s promise of Land to David

· God’s promise of Land to the Dispersed

· God’s promise of Land to Us (Heb 7)

Conc: Each of these are shown in the Cross

· The Cross overcomes the sin that has scattered us

· The Cross is the beacon of our destination

· The Cross is the locus of our gathering

And so we remember.
