Faith Climate Series

Proverbs 18:20-21 (NIV)20From the fruit of his mouth a man’s stomach is filled; with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied. 21The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

What you say is important.  It has the capability to release life in to your life, or death into your life!

FAITH is invoked by certain conditions.

  1. The condition of the mind
    • Your thinking needs to embrace faith possibilities.

Matthew 19:26 (NIV)26Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Proverbs 27:19 (NIV) 19As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.

  1. The condition of the heart

·         Luke 8:48-55 (NIV)48Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” 49While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher any more.” 50Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” 51When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother. 52Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.” 53They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!” 55Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.

Fear and doubt are conditions of the heart.  Their presence renders faith useless.

GOD HAS NOT GIVEN US A SPIRIT OF FEAR!

2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

  1. The condition of the mouth

·         SAY!

Matthew 17:14-20 (NIV) 14When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. 15“Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” 17“O unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed from that moment. 19Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” 20He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

·         Don’t Doubt and Receive!

Matthew 21:18-22 (NIV) 18Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. 19Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered. 20When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked. 21Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Words do not belong to you, they can however find lodging in your heart!

Matthew 12:32-38 (NIV)32Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. 33“Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. 35The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” 38Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you.”
